This is the only line of any significance in this article. For years I've had to say, "No, I'm not a mind-numbed robot just following whatever Rush says. Rush just expresses what I've always felt far more eloquently than I can." This dimwit needs a refesher seminar. Make up your mind people. Are we mind-numbed robots or do we come to the show with "already-held beliefs"?

To cite just one example of the misinformation in this article: The Chelsea Clinton insult he refers to is totally garbled. Rush never called Chelsea the White House dog. It was on his TV show. He was reading from a magazine list of What's In and What's Out after Clinton defeated Bush in '92, and he read, "Out: Cute dog in the White House. In: cute kid in the White House." The control room was throwing pictures up on screen very fast and accidentally got a picture of Chelsea up as Rush was still reading the "cute dog" one. He probably couldn't even see it. From this, Francis extrapolates that Rush called Chelsea the White House dog.

It's called research, Francis. It's not that hard. A child can do it. Try a Google search.

"...all true.." Probably, at least. All confirmed in opinions of a great body of scientific writings--independently encountered, often years before Rush mentions them--or verified by satellite survey, etc.

Anybody can do a google search; everybody who has an opinion--right or wrong--can insert info into the library; not many can, or will, look deeply, beyond prejudice, and verify, verify, verify.

Rush is what he is, but you don't really buy this do you? I remember the show, and if you could see it today you would also be sure that he meant to call Chelsea the Whitehouse dog. That is who Rush is, he doesn't care who he insults, although he may have eventually regretted this.

Rush really does make many factual mistakes and doesn't like to be called on them. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER. He says his show is about entertainment, not news, his job is to rally the troops. He does not claim to be a journalist. If someone relies on Rush for their news than that's their problem.

No that's not what I meant. He uses exaggeration or hyperbole to emphasize a point, somethimes he is wrong and makes no correction. He does not tolerate criticism. HE IS EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS HE IS, AN ENTERTAINER. His interest is to keep people's blood boiling, keep them voting and active. We are certainly sophisticated enough to see him for what he is here. I don't disagree with what he does, he is a riot, I listen every chance I get.

It's been almost 20 years since the last time I heard Jeff Christie on a Pittsburgh Top 40 radio station.

I believe that it was the very early '70's that Rush was on KQV. I doubt Francis ever heard Rush on KQV.

I also saw the show and remember it well. He was reading the list, not looking at the video monitor. I've been on TV enough times myself to know that you can't often tell what's being done from the control room when you're busy reading something off a page. The only show of that period that made an overt reference to Chelsea Clinton's looks was "Saturday Night Live" in a "Wayne's World" sketch, which was later edited out during reruns after the Clintons complained.
