1964? I was living back east. Sounds like you're from this area, huh?

Not really...I have only been here since 1954 but the paternal grand father of my current wife, aka my first wife, aka my child bride and also the mother of my children and grand mother of my grand children, arrived here in 1870s or 80s.

About the flood of 64...going south on 101 near Miranda is a high water mark beside the highway that is about 80 feet above the average water level in the Eel at that point. There was a bridge at Martins Ferry on the Klamath River that was taken out . I t was about 100 feet above normal flows. That storm did over 100 million in damages in 1964 dollars. I have no idea what that amounts to today.

I've seen that high water mark many times. It still doesn't communicate until you turn around and look at the valley on the opposite side of the freeway and imagine it full up to that point. Hard to believe.
