I've seen that high water mark many times. It still doesn't communicate until you turn around and look at the valley on the opposite side of the freeway and imagine it full up to that point. Hard to believe.

We were isolated for 2 or 3 weeks so the Navy stationed a aircraft carrier off shore and flew rescue missions from the deck. Many people died including rescue crews. Thousands of dairy cattle died...they took bulldozers and dug pits on the beach and buried them. Whole towns were wiped put, PL lost every stick of lumber drying in the yards. I could go on for a long time recalling what little I can remember.
