Livermore lab shift emphasizes security

Contra Costa Times

Lawrence Livermore Laboratory leaders announced a major reorganization Tuesday in anticipation of playing a major role in homeland security.

The new Department of Homeland Security has a strong emphasis on creating technologies to help prepare the nation for terrorist attacks. The lab's new organization will coordinate an estimated $50 million in research for the new department, including chemical, biological and nuclear weapons detectors, border and transportation security, emergency preparedness and response, information and infrastructure protection, and studies of vital systems.

I think we're ok in the nuke department. Mecca and Medina are small cities.

Secure the borders (REALLY secure them) and we won't have to put nearly as much effort and money into all the other stuff. (Clean out all the illegals and sleepers who are already here too, of course.) Unfortunately with the administration's mindset, we'll pour fortunes into all the "other stuff" and leave the borders open. Dumb, dumb, dumb!
