GARFIELD, N.J. -- An 80-year-old woman was mauled to death by two pit bull dogs that she had known since they were puppies, Bergen County authorities said Tuesday.

Wounds caused by claws or teeth covered more than 80 percent of Julia Mazziotto's body, and the medical examiner found she had also suffered a broken right wrist, county Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

Blood soaked her clothing and was spattered on the walls and floor of her apartment, he said.

Okay, waiting for the "pit bulls are peaceful and loving pets" contingent to come out in force.

No one is a bigger dog lover than I.
The Pit Bull Terrier needs to be expunged from the face of the earth.

I don't know that they need to be expunged from the face of the earth, but they certainly need to be kept out of the hands of people who insist that "they're no more dangerous than any other type of dog".

Where's a fascist, Krispy Kreeme eating, loveable pooch killing cop when you need one?
Now the 14 year old grandaughter will write a letter to the paper agonizing that her dogs have to be put down because they killed granny.
No justice, No peace!

Nah... the cops only shoot golden retrievers and other similarly "vicious" animals.

    Didn't take long for the
"The Pit Bull Terrier needs to be expunged from the face of the earth."
contingent to come out of the woodwork.

I bet they'll show up soon. A few days ago I posted something about my retriever getting jumped on by a pit. She's in heat and it broke my fence to get in. I said I'd hat a few pitt bulls before and 2 out of 3 turned out mean and that I'd never own another. You would have thought I killed baby puppies or something. I was told I was irresponsible, to young to own a dog, had mean children, neglected or abused my animals and should never be allowed to own a dog.
People are nuts!

I was never a big Pitt Bull fan. I do like big dogs (Rotts are my fav)
A REALLY scary dog that makes the pitt seem like a poodle is this one...(a family member has three...awesome) You need a BIG piece of land and a firm hand. These pups are NOT for the beginner.

    Roger That !!
I have a Pit (and a Doberman as well) and there isn't a pair of better breeds anywhere - period !!
 Our three-year-old loves her !!
The only reason that most people are afraid of them is that they've listened to the 'Anti-Meat-Eaters' of the world and are, now, so small that the dogs are bigger than they are....

Reminds me of a AP report of a year or so ago about an old lady who had several cats. The women died, and the cats (gasp) started to eat her.
Goes to show how much they loved her I guess.

The thing that get's me is how quickly people condemn the cop without hearing is side of the story. No benefit of the doubt. This cop may be one of the biggest animal lovers in the world, then again he may be a cretin. We don't know because we only have one side of the story, the media's side.
To: ambrose
I hate it when that happens.

If you come to our house, you'd be in danger of getting licked by our pit bull, but that's about it. Our kids are a bigger threat.
It all depends on training. A well cared for, well-trained pit bull is as fine a dog as any other.

Pit Bulls and Radical Muslims = peaceful friends
