Back in the dark ages when affirmative action was being debated I do not ever remember any reference to "diversity" as a justification. However, I do remember lots of talk about affirmative action never leading to quotas. I would really like to see a well thought out argument that supports "diversity". What quality is it that every member of every minority group has that no non-minority has?

Hopefully the Court will strike down these quotas, since they are clearly a violation of equal rights for all. In the short run it won't make much difference, because universities are sure to find ways to cheat. They won't change their ways until they change their stripes. But it's an important matter of principle.
