Back in the dark ages when affirmative action was being debated I do not ever remember any reference to "diversity" as a justification. However, I do remember lots of talk about affirmative action never leading to quotas. I would really like to see a well thought out argument that supports "diversity". What quality is it that every member of every minority group has that no non-minority has?

As you can probably guess, academia is merely fond of big words and obfuscation. Diversity means whatever you want it to mean, as long as it's politically correct.
It doesn't mean, as Horowitz says, that there should be Republicans on the faculty. That's the wrong kind of diversity.
