">"This is one of the most stark examples of a poll whose data showed one thing and whose instant analysis showed another," he said.
Ues, indeed, but then as soon as the name Madeleine Albright cropped up the slanted interpretation was a given.

Agreed. Still....for another side of this story, read Charles Krautheimer's column at WorldNetDaily.com

As example of how Yahoo/AP reported this survey:
World Survey: America's Image Slipping
Once again, Albright is quoted:
Albright said the survey offers a glimpse of a developing trend and offered a suggestion for making Americans more secure abroad.
"The only way to protect our national interest," she said, "is to understand the national interests of the other countries."

Madame Notatallbright misses no opportunities to humiliate herself, does she? It's no surprise that the dominant media would find that +60% approval numbers for the USA as bad news. They're the same people who endlessly reported the 'Rats charges that Newt wanted Medicare to 'wither on the vine' and that the GOP was trying to starve school kids. We know they lie...and the more they do it the more they'll be exposed as liars and cheats to the rest of the world.
I'd like to see a poll conducted on where the prestige of the New York Times is in the eyes of the common man, and I'd like to see this years numbers compared to 10 years ago.

Now, that would be an interesting survey but it will never happen, or it may happen but the results will never be released to the public.

Once again, we have a poll taken overseas that tells us how much everyone abroad loathes the United States. so

One of the things I never see in these polls, is the FACT that Muslems are not free. They know their government (or the religious police) would react to any statement not giving the religious line. You could tell them it is private but they know better. I am quite sure given all the anti-american propaganda, that this negative view of the US is probably true. Even if it were not, how would we know. Remember in IRAQ the people went in and voted exactly the way they were supposed to! I am sure any poll would be treated the exact same way

Polls are for dogs. I read a poll the other day that said 72% of Canadians (up from a previous poll at 71%) have a favorable opinion of Uncle Sam. I wonder how popular the Brits and Romans were at thier zenith?

POLL SHOWS IRANIANS--PRO-AMERICAN.. POLLSTER ARRESTED!!

The anti-American propaganda is given energy when past presidents such as Carter and Clinton, former SoS Albright and sitting congressmen such as Bonior, Thompson and McDermott trash the country and its leadership when traveling abroad. I loathe democrats.

Residents of Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Britain, Poland, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Indonesia and Venezuela, among others, gave the United States a favorable rating of 60% or better. Im probably in the minority, but take Poland for instance when was the last time you thought of Poland for any reason? Or Italy or Germany or even Canada? I wonder if they realize that the entire population of Indonesia could disappear and Id never notice. Or care. I could say the same for every country listed.
Id personally be more interested in how Americans view the countries polled rather than how they view us. I think thatd be more interesting. And more meaningful.

Yep.
Just last night I stayed awake all night worrying what the world thinks of us.
