And I say that Jesse Jackson is a "slave trader" in his own right by keeping his fellow blacks down in order to remain in power.

Let's make a deal. Lott doesn't become Senate Majority Leader if Jesse takes a one-way trip back to "The Motherland."

Je$$ie Jacka$$ is dilusional. He demands Lott resign, but he'll support KKK Byrd. Having said that, the Civil Rights Industry could've used those remarks to do even more damage here in Louisiana. If Republicans want to win black votes, they need to stop making remarks like that.

Does anyone else see that Jesse's expression is identical in posts #13 & #15?

I guess it's hard to wipe such a despeciable cheesy grin off.

It's nice to see that Jesse thinks he still has a moral mandate

when has he ever had a moral mandate? ever since I can recall he has been a corrupt race baiting shakedown artist.

Jesse's right. Trent Lott should explain himself or he should step down. What he said was vile and inexcusable and Bush should demand he step down if he won't go on his own. There's no excuse for what Trent Lott said.

Jesse Jackson is attempting to deflect some of the attention being focused on him.

Black leaders plan Jesse Jackson protest

Posted on 12/07/2002 12:19 PM EST by chiller

By Steve Miller THE WASHINGTON TIMES

A contingent of black business leaders and clergy will march today on the Chicago headquarters of the Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition to protest what they call Mr. Jackson's "self-anointment" as a black leader. "Jesse Jackson has passed himself off as a leader of African Americans," said the Rev. Lance Davis, a Chicago-area minister who has led three other protests against Mr. Jackson in the past month. "Mr. Jackson is not a leader, and he is not a role model, yet he has been represented as one by the media and by himself and his supporters."

You agree with Trent Lott, that America would be better if Strom Thurmond had won the presidency as a segregationist?

Are you in favor of racial segregation?

I have slightly more respect for Lott than I do for Jackson.

I like 'OReilly's idea of investigating Jesses non-for profit tax status even better.. all of that money for supporting his mistresses tax free, there has to be laws broken somewhere.

The fact that it isn't already happening makes me wonder who he has the goods on?

Just curious about something guys...

Suppose a Republican politician, say for example Tom Delay, said this quote of last night's election results:

"Louisiana politics is a different kind of animal from northern politics"

Then suppose Jesse Jackson said that Delay was a racist because he was "insinuating that black people (who voted for Landreiu) were 'animals'", and Jackson demanded Delay's resignation...

How would you guys react to that? Would the allegation be fair? I am just curious... Thanks!

Tell me, what did Trent Lott really mean when he said things would be better if Thurmond, who ran on a platform of segregation, was elected? What do you think he meant?

No details were given about possible protests by Jacksons Rainbow coalition on the controversy

It's a manufactured controvery, of no real substance - just like everything else the liberal do and say...

Do you really believe that a Thurmond presidency as an independent would've strengthened Jim Crow, or would it rather expedited the civil rights movement?

Trent Lott was not a voter when Strom was running for President, and I think the Majority Leader was referring to Strom hiring blacks in the Sentate before anyone else when he said' We would have been better off [in the 1960's race situations] with a leader like Strom..

My, havent Freeprs got up on the wrong side of the bed THIS morning, with a taste for hype and name calling.

Personally I feel Trent Lott has been ineffectual as Majority Leader, and I think that someone from Oklahoma or perhaps Missouri could do a better job. That said, he is a nice decent Christian and Southern gentleman who has done HIS best and ought not to be abused.

Surely all Freepers could agree, that if the election in 1948 had somehow resulted in a Thurmond presidency, OR THAT IN 1960 in a Nixon presidency, OR [above all] THAT in 1964 in a Goldwater presidency, the world of the 60's and subsequently would have been a far more congenial, civil, and homelike place.

The Lott statement does seem a bit overdrawn now, but after all it was in the context of eulogizing a great American statesman on his 100th birthday, and it was very mean spirited of Jesse J to come in and try to take it apart and make political hay of it.

Of the dead, nothing but good. These eulogies may often go too far, they ignore possible contrary but valid takes on that same history, that would have been to the disadvantage of their man.

Trent Lott meant to honour Mr. Thurmond on his 100th birthday, and for that he should be commended, and there the matter should end.
