As you can see, we have had another visit from this pest. We go through this every day, generally several times.

When we dust him immediately, we get people telling us we should leave them for people to tear into. When we don't, we get people telling us to get this crap off of FR and to "not have another repeat of yesterday's nonsense".

I have decided to hijack this thread and use it to get opinions. What do you all think? Should this troll be nuked each time he shows up, or should we let him post?

O gênero Rattus abrange 56 espécies sendo que somente algumas poucas causam problemas ao homem. Estes roedores são tipicamente generalistas, exibindo ampla preferência por habitats e alimentos. São as espécies em maior número dentre os mamíferos presentes em várias regiões do planeta.

O adulto possui corpo robusto com 18 a 25 cm de comprimento podendo pesar de 250 a 600 gramas. Com pêlos ásperos, orelhas pequenas e arredondadas, olhos de tamanho pequeno em relação ao resto da cabeça. As patas possuem calos lisos e membranas interdigitais. A cauda é grossa e peluda medindo 15 a 21 cm. São de hábito noturno e transitam com extrema cautela sendo difícil visualizar suas atividades. Possuem um raio de ação de 30-45m em relação ao abrigo.

Possui uma vida média de 02 anos sendo sexualmente maduro entre 60-90 dias de idade. A gestação da fêmea dura de 22 a 24 dias com 08 a 12 ninhadas por ano. Cada ninhada possui de 08 a 12 filhotes com uma média de sobrevivência de 20 filhotes após o desmame por fêmea/ano. Vivem em colônias que agregam até algumas centenas de indivíduos em territórios definidos, e com a presença de dois grupos distintos, os dominantes e os dominados. Em caso de competição com outras espécies (Rattus rattus) a espécie Rattus norvegicus geralmente predomina pelo maior porte e agressividade. Devido a falta de alimento pode ocorrer competição entre colônias.

Seus ninhos geralmente se localizam em tocas ou galerias escavadas no subsolo, onde encontramos pêlos, fezes, restos de alimentos e outros detritos. Fazem suas trilhas ao ar livre formando sulcos no solo e desgastando a vegetação rasteira, buscando água e alimento. A planta dos pés é estreita e sem estrias. Encontramos mancha única de atrito corporal junto ao solo, paredes e muros. As fezes são em forma de cápsulas com extremidades rombudas. Pode-se encontrar sinais de roedura em alumínio, chumbo, argamassa, madeiras próximas ao solo.

São animais onívoros e consomem diariamente 20 a 30g/dia de alimento, que pode ser lixo orgânico, cereais, raízes e carne. Consome de 15 a 30 mL de água/dia.

São excelentes escavadores construindo galerias no subsolo com várias saídas. Devido ao hábito noturno deve-se remover diariamente o lixo e indisponibilizá-lo no período da noite evitando suas visitas ao local. Esta espécie é frequentemente encontrada em beira de córregos e rios, terrenos abandonados, jardins sem manutenção adequada, rede de esgoto e galerias fluviais, depósitos de lixo e entulhos diversos, próximo as linhas férreas.
