If you were listeing a caller to Rush asked is he was a Kook.

the Issues were

1. Do you think Wyoming and another state (I forgot which one the caller said) should secede? (no)

2. Do you think taxes are too high? (Yes)

3. Do you think women should be allowed into combat? (yes)

4. Are you bothered by Miss black America contests and such, because a white Miss America contest would be called racist? (No????)

I know I'm not the only person who listened to that particular phone call on the show. IMO he was a kook because he was trying to measure his kookiness by what someone else believed! :)

He also wasn't very coherent. When he brought up the state succession issue it sounded to me like he was saying that New Hampshire and Wyoming should secede from the Union. I don't recall hearing anything about the Free State project in that conversation.

Understand what you're saying but when it comes to Rush (and other media types) they speak in a lot of generalities and it's what they're NOT saying that bothers me. He can say he's for individual freedom but how much attention did he pay to the Klamath Falls debacle or the current "Sawgrass Rebellion" happening in Florida? Many public figures say they're for smaller gov't and lower taxes but what's the reality on both counts? Aren't we now at a point where there are more gov't workers in this country than there are in private industry? Taxes are a joke...all any one has to do is compare their current outflow of $ for all types of taxes vs. 2,5,and 10 yrs. ago to see the fleecing we're getting despite all the rhetoric.

I know he was a big backer of all the free trade agreements and look at the havoc it's caused with loss of jobs, tax base, more illegal immigration, huge increases in debt at the fedgov/corporate/personal level (which masks the true damage of free trade), etc.

Basically, I feel this country is probably at one the most critical stages of our existence and if we are unable to ascertain what is the reality our situation instead of blindly believing the rhetoric as truth then we will very well live to see the end of our "constitutional republic". By the way, is that a term Rush uses in spite of the fact he calls himself the Dr. of Democracy?

He always promotes: 1. Small government 3. Individual freedom

Demonstrably Untrue.

If it was true, he'd support Wyoming (or any other state) leaving the union. As well as the desires of the freedom loving individuals who vote to do so...

I hear you.....if you want to listen to someone who makes Rush and the rest look like churchmouses check out John Stadtmiller who is on right now. He's at www.gcnlive.com on Stream 1 M-F, 4-6 PM CST. Today he's going to have one of the leaders of Ranch Rescue which is a group helping out ranchers on the border. He's also covered in depth private property issues, Homeland security, the UN, etc. Give him about a week of listening and you learn more than 2 months of Rush.

But Rush said a yes to #4, means you are partly a kook. I say no way. racial double standards are wrong, period, nothing kooky about it.

As long as those stupid contests aren't funded by the Government, they can include or exclude anyone they want.

Thanks, if Rush and a few hundred 501-C3 pastors grew a spine and started to really let it fly to their vast audiences we could have a renaissance that would chase out every liberal marxist idiot in this country almost overnight.

Yeah, I know, I saved my old bell bottoms from the 70s -- and my daughter looked at them and said, "OH, no, MOM!"

Fortunately if we save stuff long enough it comes back into style. . . . (everything except my husband's old OD fatigues. :-D )

Rush in jeans? Nah, he's too fat; especially for the low cut style that are in vogue nowadays. d;^)

I listened to Rush daily from '88 to '95 and then a light went on. I understand who and what Rush is. He is a self promoter par excellence and an entertainer. His conservatism is quite mainstream and he has been towing the line ever since Bush invited him to the White House in '92. Before that he was leaning twoard Buchanan, a real conservative.

I'll give you one issue and you can make of it what you will. But first we should know that to be a conservative you should be conserving something other than your own wealth. Traditionally the Republican/Conservative was tied up with being ANTI-FREE_TRADE with foreign countries. Washington, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt all made many speeches about protecting this free-trade zone we call The United States of America. That's what the constitution did, establish a free trade zone between the States. But since Eisenhower took over the party the Free-Traders are on both sides of the aisle. So..what does that mean? Is free trade no longer important enough for debate? Is it a dead issue? Shall we "conservatives" DIVORCE ourselves from tradition and Washington, Lincoln and TR?

The Neo-Conservatives like Rush would like us to believe that they carry the banner for us but the sad truth is that they carry their own banner and we are actually on our own. It makes no sense to point at the Dem/Liberals and say how awful they are. That is no way to prove your point. You cannot build yourself up at their expense.

If you want to know what is really going on and you want to read a REAL CONSERVATIVE then check out G K Chesterton at ignatius.com or chesterton.org (for free) and read EUGENICS and OTHER EVILS. YOu will surprised and enlightened to met a real conservative thinker.

Yup, Rush is so "irrelevant, and boring" that you have Daschle and the rest of his liberal/leftist friends complaining and whining about Rush.

My point was that often people take things out of context or don't get a joke and think Rush is being rude or mean or try to put their own definitions on things instead of what is actually being said or meant.

I do agree that Rush often carries the banner for the Republican party but will occassionaly move from the party line on issues he truely belives in.

I will look at your links and read them. Thanks for providing them.
