[history]
December 5, 2002 -- MAYBE it's just wishful thinking, but the December buzz among Dems is starting to be that maybe, just maybe, Al Gore will bow out of the 2004 presidential race and deprive Republicans of their dream race - a Bush-Gore rematch.

Whisper campaign against Gore? So far, Al's only political instincts is to move further left, and not to try to expand his political base. A registered D is bound to pick up the supply-side banner simply because Bush has been a disappointment on that front, but Gore seems to walk away from it. Only point being that Gore could morph himself in to a Jerry Brown 1992 figure fairly easily and leave all other Dems behind.

If he's on a book tour and people aren't even buying his book, maybe it tells him something.Current Amazon.com sales rank of "Joined at the Heart": 3,447.

I got a gut feeling that Al Gore will sit this one out. Gore should see the signs on the wall and realize that he doesn't have much of a chance to unseat Bush.
Kerry / Mc Cain might pose some problems for Bush. A McCain hate for Bush could position the Dems. for a military "Hero" ticket.
Kerry would be strong in Ca., Wa., Or.,Nv.,Az.,La.,Il.,Mass,NY,NJ,NH,RI,CT,Pa.,HI.,VT.

One thing that you can count on from Algore is an inability to face reality. He's gonna run, IMHO.

he'll tell the world in January. Anniversary of inauguration day, perhaps, or maybe closer to the State of the Union day?

I agree with Sununu's comment the ohter night. Gore knows he only has one title shot left, and will not do it vs. Bush.
He will, in the end opt for '08.
Bad news for him (or maybe good, the way things are ight now...with the DNC in disarray) is that is also when Hillary!ous plans to take her shot.

This is funny. I didn't even know the name of the loser's book.
To: RFP
Outside Al & Tipper Gore, FReepers would be the only people there.

I gave Kerry / McCain 217 electorial votes, if my numbers are correct. Throw in DC and Mich and Kerry is up to 238.
Scary.

To: nypokerface
The decision is out of Gore's hands. Tipper is calling the shots.

...And the world waits on pins and needles for his answer. Oh, the silence is deafening. What WILL he do? Wallstreet ponders. Pork Futures in doubt. Citizens stock up on food supplies, planning for a worst case scenario. Oh, let him speak now so we may safely traverse this uncertain maze of confusion and fear. The World begs you, algore. In the meantime, I shall take a shower. Please *ping* me if he decides today...

"Al Gore as a presidential candidate? Good god no. The man is not electable" -Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Sept.1999

As usual Gore lost his focus........he wanted to sell his book, got a chance on all the commie/lib stations and then took the opportunity to bash the President at a time when the President was riding especially high following the mid terms. If he had focused on his book he might have had a chance.......but his judgement is flawed as always. My guess is that he will not be running for President.

nope. they vehemently dislike one another, so I am guessing any semblance of mutual respect is missing, that was the nature of my comment vis-a-vis the DNC..Clintons controlling it now, but if they continue to lose (and they most assuredly will), My thinking is that x42s manna will be gone, and then after burnishing his image, Gore is thinking he can step back in, letting '04 clear the field of possible contenders (MR.Heinz,Lieberman,DassholeGephardt et als...minus HRHHilliary!ous).

If Gore waits till '08 does that mean Hillary!ous is running this time? Hillary! would need only one of her hips to bump Algore or any other lightweight out of the way whenever she decides to run.. Nobody, but nobody, crosses Hillary! Run, Hillary! Run! I dare ya.
