However, no one risked our soldier's lives for more worthless reasons than President Clinton

That bears repeating loudly and often.

If so, then has he said why he didn't go to Vietnam?

Where is the outrage? People are talking about Rush lack of military service but no one has posted anything about clinton. Why is that?

No one is attacking Kerry's Vietnam record. In fact he probably gets more respect from conservatives than from liberals about that part of his resume.

But just because he served with distinction doesn't mean his political ideas are sound or that he'd make a good president. George McGovern was a bomber pilot in WWII, does that mean that no non-veterans had the moral authority to vote against him in 1972? Adolf Hitler won several medals for valor while serving in the German army in WWI. Does that mean his political views are above criticism by anyone other than highly decorated war veterans?

I live in Massachusetts. According to your logic, I should not be allowed to say anything bad about my junior senator because I've never served in the armed forces. Sorry, if it makes me a "chickenhawk" to say this, but I think he is a patrician snob and he'd be a lousy president.

There are lots of conditions that the military will treat you for if you are already in, but will not accept you as a recruit if you have it prior to enlistment. It's simply not in their interest to enlist someone that is likely to spend time taking up medical resources, as well as potentially squandering the effort that went into training them. Once you are already in it is a different story.

" You think it has a name?"

The Cyst, or the ailment?

Maybe it was best that Clinton did not serve, at least in the Navy. We would not want another "seminal" moment in "dress blues." We already know what he can do to a "blue dress."

I'm sorry if you don't like my comments but I don't retract any of them. With regard to Rush Limbaugh, he is a public figure who has made tens of millions, perhaps deservedly, off being a public figure with very public views who chooses to remain in the public arena every day. I agree with him on many things; I do not agree on the near-hysterical push for war involving a two-bit secular dictator in a poor country with a population of 16 million, two-thirds of whom hate him.

Did I say anything about supporting Kerry because of his military record? I just wanted to point out that unlike some Democrat politicians of our acquaintance, John Kerry did not sit his tour out in a Saigon hotel. His military service and his courage in battle have nothing to do with his political beliefs.

If he has, I have not heard it. I know my ex did not go - we got married. Friends went and died. Friends went and came back. None went to England. None protested the war.

Had one since I was 22 on and off. Lanced at age 22 and hot baths since then. Doctors have said it was operable, but not to bother if it didn't cause major problem. Don't know Rush's situation that it was not inoperable. My family says it was caused by them cutting my tail off when I was born.

You shouldn't spend time at Bartcop. They are just rumor-mongers over there.

The condition from which Rush Limbaugh is said to suffer is called a "pilonidal cyst." These cysts occur over the tail bone, not in or on the anus. The tailbone (coccyx) is a vestigal structure and cysts related to hair follical above the tailbone are relatively common. About 250 out of 1,000,000 people suffer from pilonidal cysts. These cysts can become painfully tender and infected, and are cause to be classified 4-F by the military.

Limbaugh also has stated that injuries to his knees from high school football led to his not being selective service material.

OK, so I'm making up the chart here, let me see if I've got it straight:

Military status Pro-war Anti-war
Volunteered for service, served in combat Opinion valid Opinion valid
Volunteered for service, served in non-combat in 'Nam Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Volunteered for service, served stateside Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Volunteered for National Guard, served stateside Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Drafted, served in 'Nam Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Drafted, served stateside Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Drafted, medical deferment Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Drafted, college deferment Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Drafted, fled to Canada Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Undrafted during Vietnam era Opinion invalid Opinion valid
Undrafted, not of age during Vietnam era Opinion invalid Opinion valid

What about my father who volunteered in '65, knowing he wasn't going to college, hoping to get a quicker tour of duty, but was rejected because of a foot long metal plate holding his shin together. I guess he's a chickenhawk, too. And my brother served 4 years in the USAF, all of them at Dover. That's probably not good enough, either.

Fill me in, because I'm not up to date.
