I still feel closely to Colin Powell. I'd still like to reach for him. He's not the first person in office who has eluded us or presented an opportunity to do some good that we thought we could never have. Bobby Kennedy, was when he first came into office, somebody that we looked at with enormous anguish and suspicion because we didn't feel that he understood the struggles of black people in this country. And our task was Fine. These are all that I've received with references to Larry King (and ONLY ones with that reference) so far. To be fair - honest - before last night, most of the mail I received was down/right nasty. , I would estimate the break-down like this: 13 - 15% positve, articulate, "way to go" & "Thanks for standing up" statements 25 - 30 % negative, with backed-up arguments / views 60% crap - one-liners of hate & venom < 3% attacks aimed just at me, for hosting this site, or not presenting this issue "fairly". But since last night Jim Hughes, take a look... Of the comments about the Larry King show - 16 positive; 4 negative, if we count yours. And, to answer a few other questions coming my way... I do not have an email address where you can send your support - or lack of "intelligent comments" are the ones that any more than the one-line-wonders of hateful spit I will wade through all the comments that I have received, and do my best to portray an honest selection, but will not post all 300+. And I won't be doing it in the next day or two, as work calls. Again, thank you Harry. The education continues.
I saw Larry King earlier tonight and I disagree with your attack on Colin Powell. I think you're wrong. You are arrogant, insensitive and your views are even racist. You aren't helping the black cause with your own personal agenda. Your agenda doesn't even represent America. Why are you SO concerned with poor BLACK kids, when there are poor white, chinese, hispanic, indian, korean, swede, french, canadian kids. Why would you 'think' BLACKS are any more important than them?! Are you REALLY THAT racist?! Harry, you are no humanitarian nor are you an asset to the black cause. I think you're a racist with failed domination aspirations. Just because Colin Powell isn't a racist, doesn't entitle you to 'attempt' to publicly insult/defame his reputation by calling him a slave. To whom it may concern, My name is James McGovern and I decided I had to write to somebody in regard to Mr. Belafonte's appearance this evening on Larry King. I have never written to voice my opinion about any entertainer because to be honest I have better things to do with my life. But after watching this buffoon I decided I had to write. I have never, in my life, heard some much pyscho-babble come from ones mouth. I feel that for Mr. Belafonte to criticize Colin Powell is criminal. Colin Powell has done more for this country than Harry will ever achieve in his life time. I find it very sad that HB would go on national TV and state all the bullshit that was coming from his mouth. I use to respect HB but I will never, ever, even listen, look, or read anything having to do with Harry Belafonte. Just so you know, I'm not just some Jerry Springer type person who is writing this email. I spent 13 years as a Navy Fighter pilot and currently am a pilot with United Airlines. All my fellow workers feel the same way I do. Thank you for your time. saw Mr. Belafonte on the show tonight, his statements about Colin Powell are the most racist I have ever heard. Powell was not put into office to give the black people a free ride, he does his policy and does it very well. If Belafonte does not like the policies of this administration, then vote in the next election. I was not raised a racist but over the years I have become one thanks to people like Jesse Jackson (what a joke) and your mr. belafonte. Sincerely, Chris of positive and negative comments after the first day of the radio interview can be found here. The rest have not yet been processed.
to reach to him and to provoke him and to push him until he became a human being who was awakened to the cause of the peoples of this country who sit disenfranchised and who were living in oppression in a very violent time in our nation, when racism was legal. And look at what happened to him by the end of his life because those of us who spoke out awakened him to understand that what he's doing is not acceptable.
from Larry King Live transcripts
Harry Belafonte appeared on Larry King Live on Tuesday, October 15th . These are some of the comments following that appearance...
I hope, Harry, you have the chance to stop by and see this, because tonight, so many of us are standing by you, saluting your courage.. Thank you.
It's amazing that only pro Harry remarks made it to the "after Larry King", page. Be honest and tell the numbers who were really against his racist remarks. Jim Hughes

This is a Free society - you become what you aspire to become. Public schools are FREE and so are libraries, but they have to attend school to learn, so they can get a job to earn a living! Poor people are poor because most of them are plain lazy.
Quite honestly you are an embarrassment to watch on TV. I had to turn the show off - and I usually like Larry King. You definitely ruined that show.

Belafonte was born in Harlem but lived in Kingston, Jamaica, from the ages of 8 to 13. Colin Powell was born in Harlem, descended from Jamaicans Luther and Maud Powell, and grew up to become of leader of men. Can we detect a bit of jealousy here?

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
Uh, huh. Will they be written by a white Jewish guy from New York like his "carribean" material?
