Tyesha Edwards / In another country she'd be alive

They keep saying that Tyesha Edwards was killed by a stray bullet when everyone knows that in the heart of a city there's no such thing. Every bullet expelled from a gun has someone's name on it, and the reprehensible people who pull triggers are guilty of inflicting misery no matter whom it hits.

For another (and much more rational) opinion, go here.

"Do something about it."

Okay, how about spending the NEXT forty years turning back the tide and undoing the incredible damage done to the black American family by four decades of unfettered social engineering by the Left starting with the Johnson-era "war on poverty" programs?

Ah, but if you seriously propose this, you'll be called racist and insensitive.

Rush Limbaugh is right: When you're a Leftie, only your intentions are counted.

Thanks for the alternative article...as usual, the first was motivated by emotion, the second by reality.

Another constructive step would be to visit the Lagoon Theater in Uptown Minneapolis or the Southdale Center in Edina to see Michael Moore's powerful documentary film "Bowling for Columbine."

That would be like attempting to deal with hemorrhoids by sticking your head up your a**.

Whether or not you like Moore's slant on politics, and despite his rather loose way of dealing with fact, the film overall is a gripping indictment of the fear and paranoia that produced and sustain America's gun culture

Methinks the drug war was the main culprit here, along with a violent inner-city culture. There are lots of guns in Maine and few gun murders.

It's only a "gripping indictment" because of Moore's political slant, and even worse, his "loose way of dealing with the facts".

In essence, the film deliberately plays on the emotions of it's viewers causing the facts to become lost in the process. There's word for this kind of film...propaganda.

It's hard not to walk away embarrassed about our great country's deepest flaw: its propensity toward random violence unknown in other advanced societies.

Sorry. Nice try though. No longer can the gun-grabbers spout this kind of rhetoric and have even a shred of truth on their side. England, New Zealand and other countries that have 'banned' guns have much greater problems with violence and crime. You're safer on the mean streets of Detriot or D.C than in London now.

When a drug dealer tries to kill another drug dealer, it's not "random" violence.

It is a good to hear that it is showing at the Uptown, the local Twin Cities "art house" theater. Preaching to the converted!

"Bowling for Columbine" opened at the Uptown, and ran there for a week or so before moving down the street to the Lagoon.

I was there, opening night, wearing my "Gun of the Month Club" tshirt.

Rant away. The politicians have discovered that taking this kind of advice loses elections. Stirring up the gun lobby to oppose him was one of the major reasons why Gore lost in 2000, as did many other gun-control advocates.

Nah. More like Zimbabwe...Face it, had she grown up, the kid likely wouldn't even have ever become a handgun permit carrier, trusted enough to be capable of defending her own life. Just another of the sheep, bleating to the wolves not to eat her.

Those in the pismire crime zones are getting bitten by their own rats, and shouldn't be in the least surprised that it's their kids getting bitten. Get out or clean them out, or there'll be more to come.
