Transfer of Sex Offender Priest
e-mail received from a friend | Sunday, November 24, 2002 | Appeared in Nativity of the Lord Church Bulletin

Posted on 11/28/2002 5:04:48 PM PST by attagirl

Dear Everyone,

I received the following information from a member of the "Save St. Joseph's" group in Cudahy, WI. This item appeared in the Sunday Nativity of the Lord Bulletin (merged parish of St. Joseph, St. Frederick and Holy Family):

Fr. Tom's Departure Fr. Tom Walker, Associate Pastor received word last week that he will be transferred to ST. KILIAN PARISH IN HARTFORD BEGINNING January 12, 2003.

He will be replacing Fr. Mike Petrie who will begin a six month sabbatical. Fr. Tom's last Sunday at Nativity of the Lord Parish will be January 5, 2003.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Thomas Walker he is a THREE TIME CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER. He was also the priest who was sent by former Archbishop Rembert Weakland to "help" with the merger of St. Casimir/St. Elizabeth.

In May of 2002, Tom Phillips of Catholics Serving the Lord sent then Archbishop Rembert Weakland the following information listed below. Tom Phillips also gave this information to Archbishop Timothy Dolan on October 15, 2002:

"Thomas J. Walker, born March 12, 1945, came to Scared Heart Seminary in Hales Corners, Wisconsin as an older "second career" seminarian. He was arrested for "lewd and lascivious behavior" on May 24, 1978 and was dismissed from the seminary as unacceptable, allegedly for overt homosexual activity. But he was apparently deemed acceptable by your St. Francis Seminary. You (Weakland) ordained Walker in May 1989. Barely one month later he was arrested "for engaging in sexual activity in a wooded area." Walker was found guilty and fined in Wauwatosa Municipal Court for 'disorderly conduct/indecent acts." (Wauwatosa News-Times, 7-27-89; The Wanderer, 1-25-01, p.10).

More recently, Walker has two additional arrests. Wisconsin Circuit Court case number 99CM010876, filed Nov 9. 1999, shows that Walker was arrested for "Prostitution-Sexual Gratification;" and case number 00CM000833, filed Jan 31, 2000, shows that Walker was arrested for "Prostitution-Masturbation," for which he pled "Guilty/No Contest," and paid a $1,007.50 fine. (This case information is available online by doing a search, typing in "Wisconsin Circuit Court Access," and then typing in Walker's name, etc.)"

Why is it that Father Bill Kohler of Priest Placements always seems to pick parishes that merged and filed Canonical Appeals as the place to send Thomas Walker?

Please name one corporation in America who wouldn't have fired Thomas Walker after his first offense, but in the Roman Catholic Church of the Milwaukee Archdiocese, Thomas Walker is still allowed to be a PRIEST after THREE ARRESTS! Of course of equal concern is WHY he was ever ordained in the first place.

I ask you to join with me in putting pressure on the Milwaukee Archdiocese to REMOVE Thomas Walker from active priestly ministry in the hope that eventually he will be defrocked.

Archbishop Timothy Dolan's E-mail Address is: archbishopdolan@archmil.org Telephone number is: 414/769-3497 or 800/769-9373 Fax Number is 414/769-3388

Father Bill Kohler Telephone: 414-769-3458 Department for Clergy - Priest Placement Milwaukee Archdiocese P.O. Box 07913 Milwaukee, WI 53207-0913

I ask you to forward this information to as many concerned Catholics as possible. With unwavering faith and endless prayers for a return to HOLINESS

This will be Dolan's first test.

The guy's already served his time, but, according to the USCCB charter, not even a one-time offender will be tolerated. He's got four arrests, one conviction, and one "no contest" in "lewd and lascivious behavior."

Perhaps Fr. Tom Walker should go after a couple of Radio Shock Jocks in NYC...that seems to deflect the attention away from the evil that exists in the RCC...

Let's see who among the FR "RCC Blinder-Wearer" club shows up to "defend" this POS and his new position.

Do you think Hartford has been warned? Is there a "Sexual Predator" alert posted outside his Church...has he registered with Hartford's Police?

Somehow, I think not...

We'll see how this plays out. But knowing who Rembert Weakland was, I imagine the new bishop has inherited a holy mess. It's questionable whether he can trust anyone working in the chancery or any other place in the diocese where Weakland supervised the appointments. I'm sure it's riddled with dissenters and troublemakers. Yet until he has time to straighten things out, he has to rely on these people to help him make decisions and implement directions.

Honestly, I don't think you'll find anyone who supports transferring this priest to another parish. He really should be defrocked.

And you're right--there is evil existing in the RCC. The enemy is within (and to a certain extent, always has been)--but he has always been without. At any rate, denying it's presence only enables it. The Truth shall set you free.

Sounds like Archbishop Dolan has his hands full there.

Are there any news articles?

Can we get this posted on diocesereport.com? That would turn up the heat.

I don't believe this!!!

I am in a Diocese in Ireland that is in complete TURMOIL because of sex abuse scandals..the most high profile being the 'Fr. Sean Fortune' case, which I'm sure hit the States, and resulted in the resignation of Bishop Brendan Comiskey. (First time a Bishop had to resign in Ireland).

How the new Bishop, who has a quagmire to deal with, has treated ALL cases subsequently has been to REMOVE...completely REMOVE..all priests under ANY suspicion from parish work..and put them on permanent (until told otherwise) leave. These aren't just homosexual priests, these are priests who have broken ANY of the celibacy vows (the ones we all know have been carrying on with women).

The diocese is operating on skeletal staff per se at the moment. But it SURE DOES but confidence back into the flock for the church.

PURGE the bastards out of it.
The Catholic Church cannot be a hiding ground for sex abuse anymore.!!!! The PEOPLE of this new generation WILL not allow it!! The hurt has GOT TO STOP.

Yeah, Dolan has a mess, alright.

I went through HS with Tom Phillips. He's quite a guy; has the Greek, Hebrew, and Latin versions of the Bible and can read all three languages.

Maybe I will do a CCAP run on Tom Walker myself...

I suspect there are a few reasons Dolan has not "purged" the perps from Milwaukee. One would be that if he actually took out all the bad guys, Dolan himself might have to say about 50 Masses/Sunday to fill all the holes in the schedule. Another is that Dolan will be consciously mis-served by his staffers (as mentioned by another poster.)

He really has two problems: the first is KNOWING who the bad guys are (he might not;) the second is tossing them without throwing the Archdiocese into turmoil.

He NEEDS to do that.

Reinstill faith in the grassroots, and see the church grow.

It's like cutting a mature lawn..there is no new growth, unless you sever the bad, bad weeds.

BTW..All he has do is inform Rome.
TELL Rome I have a crisis. I have, out of belief of my ordination, had to SACK these abusing priests.

I need assistance to administer to my flock. Send assistance from Rome.

If the Pope can't help out, who can, eh?

My own CCAP check shows Walker's 'prostitution--self-gratification' case was DISMISSED.

Not the same as guilty, nor 'nolo contendere.' Just dismissed.

Since the judge in the matter is a bleeding-heart liberal of the first water, one might view this with a jaundiced eye--but the record is the record.

Here's the URL: CCAP records

After you agree to the disclaimer at the bottom of the page, enter Walker's name and birthdate in the appropriate slots.

THe Wauwatosa City court item does not show up (it's not a Circuit Court.)

"....and how many armies has the Pope?..." to analogize.

Dolan has a few friends here and there, and can get a number of priests who are: 1) Milwaukee natives who have fled to other locations; 2) members of Orders (Legionnaires) who have offered help; and 3) currently retired and spry as spring rabbits.

I also suspect that Dolan will want to know, with certainty, about who's who before he executes anyone. It's the right thing to do.

The minor 'error' I cited above is not helpful--although it does look as though Fr. Walker is not exactly a model...
