Rush Limbaugh - deaf, later in life, due to a genetic defect
At first it was thought to be genetic. It was later determined to be an autoimmune disorder. My nephew and niece, though, have genetic deafness.

What is really scary is that this is how massive, evil change happens in a society. First, a few people say things that are totally unacceptable by society and shunned, then over time others come in with "less drastic" or "more reasonable" solutions, and are shunned, but more people jump on board, and as more people jump on board the attitude or belief is debated and gradually accepted as "normal"
That's what happened with the homosexual community. Fifty years ago homosexuals were shunned, forty-years ago they were still shunned but some people were accepting them, thirty years ago they were frowned upon, twenty years ago they were accepted, ten years ago they were protected, and now they are spreading an anti-Christian message in our public schools and anyone who dares oppose their teachings are called hate-filled.

Once the National Socialists took over, they came out with revised editions of school textbooks. Many of the math story problems involved calculating how much of the Reich's money was "wasted" caring for the disabled and inform.

"So what? It's not a person yet."
that it's not a person until it's named, which is usuallly about the fifth day.
Francis Beckwith2 -- Is the Unborn Less Than Human
Those who defend criteria for full humanness make a distinction between "being a human" and "being a person." They argue that although the unborn are part of the species homo sapiens, and in that sense are human, they are not truly persons since they fail to fulfill a particular set of personhood criteria. Although the defenders of personhood criteria do not agree on everything, their underlying philosophical assumptions are similar enough that it is safe to say that if I can show that these assumptions are significantly flawed then no personhood criteria theory can succeed in supporting the abortion-rights position.
Mary Meehan -- The Ex-abortionists: Why they quit
But it was a 1974 operation that "changed my mind about abortion forever." While doing a suction abortion, Jarrett found that the suction curette was obstructed by a torn-off fetal leg. So he changed techniques and dismembered the child with a ring forceps:
And as I brought out the rib cage, I looked and I saw a tiny, beating heart. And when I found the head of the baby, I looked squarely in the face of another human beinga human being that I'd just killed. I turned to the scrub nurse and said, "I'm sorry." But I just knew that I couldn't be a part of abortion any more.

The late Terence Cardinal Cooke wrote a beautiful letter for Respect Life Sunday in 1983. Its eloquence was enhanced by the fact that he was dying of cancer as he wrote it, and died two days before it was read in all the parishes of the Archdiocese of New York. He wrote, "The 'gift of life,' God's special gift, is no less beautiful when it is accompanied by illness or weakness, hunger or poverty, mental or physical handicaps, loneliness or old age. Indeed, at these times, human life gains extra splendor as it requires our special care, concern and reverence."

There's a poor excuse for a human at Princeton Named Peter Singer, who advocates not only aborting anyone who is "not up to par", but also believes in infancide after birth. He's defined life as begining as some later point, and only if the child is born perfectly normal and remains so. I hate him, I despise him, and yes I wish him dead. His sick type of thinking of killing or wanting more killing of children, both born and unborn, because they don't fit in with his ideal human makes me sick to my stomach. Princeton won't fire him either, and that disgusts me even more. I hope he dies, I'll be there to urinate on his grave.

God is in charge: when Singer discovered his mom was becoming mentally defective, he was forced to admit that he had not thought it all through to the logical conclusion.
He has not changed his stance, but he has admitted that it sounds better in theory than it is in practice.

He doesn't believe in God, therefore has no fear of Him. Besides, he thinks that harvested fetal body parts are going to keep him alive forever. A "bioethicist" is not necessarily ethical, just as a secular humanist necessarily human.
To: Notwithstanding
Too bad he does not apply this ethic on himself, the ugly old fool.
Medicine and entire generations would have gone nowhere if we had started aborting premature babies and other deformities. It is unconsciounable that those who aim to heal and to fight against disease are now derided by those who abandon the right to life for pure priviledges of feeling good. It is downright exploitation of man. War against the disease is replaced with giving up against the disease. It is replaced by war against hope, life, ingenuity and peace.

"After it's born" she said "I'm stuck with it." That is so sad. I don't have any links at hand, but I have heard there are adoption agencies that have parents waiting in line to adopt Down Syndrome children. Maybe a little research could turn them up, and perhaps that might ease her fears.

If a Down's baby survives your sister's homicidal intentions (God forgive her; maybe it's just talk) we will adopt him!

Just one person's opinion!

I ran into a similar situation a couple of years ago. I knew a woman who had suffered through years of infertility, even doing invitro only to miscarry multiple times. She and her husband had finally adopted a baby when she found herself pregnant. I called her about a play date, and she told me she couldn't come because she had to do "some tests for the baby." I asked if something was wrong, and she said "No, it's just an amino." I told her that I knew at least two people that had miscarried after amnios, but she said that she and her husband had discussed it at length and they had to have the test. She said that they "just wanted to be prepared" if something was wrong. In truth, 9 out of 10 mothers who find they have a Down's baby do abort....and why would anyone risk a child's life "just to be prepared" if they have no intention of aborting the baby??? I don't get it.
