BALTIMORE - The city has fined 29 political candidates and organizations a total of $26,250 for the cost of removing campaign signs illegally placed in median strips.
The biggest offender, according to city records released last week: Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's campaign. Transportation workers had to pull 1,005 of the Democrat's signs. The city is charging $10 each, so her bill is $10,050.
Her Republican opponent, Gov.-elect Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., racked up a fine of $1,580.
The Maryland Democratic Party received the second-highest bill, for $6,060. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People came in third with a $3,390 fine.

I thought Maryland Democrats were staunchly pro-Environment?... It's very ironic that they left the most trash behind in Baltimore by a margin of 10-1.

It is all about "winning" to Democrats. To hell with laws about campaigning, they only apply to our opponents. Nothing is going to stop us from our quest to win.

I'm surprised they didn't quote a whiner from KKT's campaign accusing Republicans of "planting" these illegal signs. But don't worry, I'm sure that's forthcoming...

I wonder who was doing this in Baltimore. I thought there was no love lost between Mayor O'Malley and KKT.
Who'll be in charge of enforcing this, by the way? Does Gov. Ehrlich get to appoint a replacement for Montanarelli?

All that work sticking those signs in the ground, at a cost of 10,000 dollars, and the Democrats still couldn't win. Oh, the futility!

OK, so what are the odds on WHO will actually pay these fines?
2. What are the odds these fines will ever get paid? (vs. being swept away)
3. Of the three culprits who will address this matter first?

I can't imagine they'll see money from ANY of the candidates or groups. I posted it because I got a kick out of the whole situation.
Dems are hypocrites, and there's nothing more enjoyable then KKT getting kicked while she's down. She rattles off her pro-enviroment lines, but can't even clean up after herself.

Hey, Great Post!!
Hypocracy at it's best for all 29.
The real question is, who benefitted from this story? (Besides the obvious entertainment value) :-)

Wherever a Kennedy settles, that area becomes his/her own personal playground. They believe they are above the law, and above the rules. That may explain why some of them are dead.

The rule here in Texas is that candidates must have their campaign signs removed no later than the 10th day after the election. There are still plenty of Tony Sanchez (D) signs around town - I wonder if I could cost his campaign any money by making a call to the regulatory agency in charge of that sort of thing (Tx Department of Transportation)?

It's very ironic that they left the most trash behind in Baltimore...not so, it is so hard to tell the difference between trash and not trash in balitmore.

Go up Baltimore National Pike into the county and you will still many "Vote Democratic" signs posted illegally along the road.
Also some Republican clown who lost the sheriff's race still hasn't taken some of his illegal signs down.
