There is absolutely nothing stopping liberals from supporting their own commercial talk show hosts. Why don't they? Well one reason is that they have the monopoly on public radio talk show hosts. If they are not as overt as people like Limbaugh etal, the constant stream of left-wing guests makes it obvious where their political sympathies lie.

I think the progressive community has to face the reality,...
Cancer and dementia are said to be 'progressive' at times.

The time has come for newspapers like "The Plain Dealer" and the hundreds of left-leaning newspapers to do it the British way. Tell us the truth--you are socialist newspapers.
You see when you tell people the truth then even when they disagree with you they respect you. If you try to hide behind claims of "objectivity" and "fairness" you are soon recognized for the frauds you are.
Now the TV networks have a different problem because if they revealed their socialist bias they would be de-licensed by the FCC as not being in the public interest. So I guess until the Pubbies get some cojones and order the FCC to pull all of network television's broadcast licenses then the networks news anchors will get up there and lie lie lie as they have for the past fifty years.

"and perhaps put together our own TV shows." Oh yeah; that'll work. Does it never cross their one-track minds that they don't have successful shows because nobody listens to them? Who wants to listen to endless blathering about non-substantial "issues" by moronic, self-agrandising powermongers?

Daschle did not provide specific examples of violence, except to say that when Limbaugh called him an "obstructionist" he and his family had worried. And only Fox News has had the guts to mention that when Daschle was saying this he had a poster behind him that was titled "Republican Obstructionism"!
Such a damned hypocrite.

Hillary Clinton blamed her husband's problems on a "vast right-wing conspiracy. Klintons problems are now the 'Rats problems.

This is a 'softening-up' bombardment to usher in calls for limiting talk radio or in some way resurrecting the 'Fairness Doctrine' by which air time will be mandated for 'liberal' views on free market outlets.
It is my view that conservative response shouldn't be to repond to the idiocy of this feint. Instead, let's agitate for defunding of the leftist propaganda strongholds. It is public dollars that keep alive NPR, PBS and the clearing agencies like the Legal Services Corporation from which seed money and operational funds for scads of leftist organizations and projects is shoveled out by the federal government.
This kind of offensive carries this conflict back into the leftist end-zone and strikes at their publically funded infrastructure. In this way, these specious campaigns against talk radio would be derailed (like - right now), and the real conflict can be joined and fought. That is, killing off the sources and support of institutional leftism.
In this climate of uncertain economic trends, I believe the public sympathies would be, at worst, neutral and, at best, positive if government jobs relating to these activities were terminated and budget monies freed up from 'entertainment' purposes for use in the conduct of legitimate government purposes.
As added bonuses, the conservative base will be energized by spectacular hits on what is instinctively known as the Pravda of American politics and the lefty base will be demoralized and propelled into ever more shrill hysterics against government 'suppression' and the like.
Seems like a plan to me. I would appreciate input and criticism.

Did you hear Rush's parody of the Tom Daschle radio show a few days ago?? I usually smile when he has his parodys, this on had me laughing out loud.
I couldn't do it justice trying to describe it. Tom was very lonely for an hour, then McCain called in. It was Rush's best IMHO.

That's so true! They hide behind this lie of being at the center and being "objective" yet their perspective to the discerning eye is very far left. I think this hiding in the press is really a weakness because of their lack of a rational well thought-out spokesman. Theirs is a devious and cowardly position, unlike most of the conservative talk shows and sites who don't hide their positions and make points with logical arguments and facts, something the dems can't seem to counter. Thank God for FreeRepublic!

I agree... Rush and the others are doing a fine job of defending themselves with humor, laughter, and playing back the very words of the Left- they don't need our help. In fact, they would probably do better in the public's eye if we weren't associated too closely.

"Limbaugh, on his nationally syndicated, top-rated show, said Wednesday that the Democrats' real problem is that people no longer have to rely on the "leftist" big three TV networks and Eastern newspapers, led by The New York Times." Amen. I think the horse is out of the barn. The only thing left for us to do is lead all other conservatives to our "home bases." There are many out there who are searching for the truth but still don't know where to find it. Spread the word.
I have www.freerepublic.com cards that I hand out when appropriate.

Left-wing politicians complaining about others being too shrill, this is just too damn funny. What a bunch of hypocrits.

Yes, I thought Rush's Daschle parody was hilarious--because it had so much truth in it.
This illustrates why the left still doesn't and won't ever get it:
Conservatives are better marketers. They use all the tools of mass marketing better than liberals," said Michael Parks, director of the School of Journalism at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication.
The left insists that it's the "marketing", the "packaging", the "entertainment" that makes conservative talk radio successful.
The truth that liberals will not credit for the success of folks like Rush and Hannity is the MESSAGE. It's the big elephant (pun intended) in the living room.
The conservative message is upbeat, positive, encouraging, appreciative of individual incentive and persistence to solve problems.
The liberal message is doom and gloom, the world's going to hell in a handbasket, you can't do it yourself, you need our help, the government is the answer to all our problems. Who wants to listen to that drivel for hours on end??!!

No, I missed it, but I just have to hear it so I am probably going down to Budge's tomorrow and listening to it on Rush 24/7. Was that the day right after Tiny Tommy's "fit" or the day after that with the FR doctored photo of of Rush dangling baby Tommy over the balcony?
