"This will unleash the 'mother' of all court battles.

We all have the basic right to protect our own lives and those of our family, our homes and our property.

How will they legislate these rights away?"

I believe you have more than just the germ of an idea in what you say. I am not a trained lawyer, but there must be some sort of legal recourse for the people of a state or locality, when the government fails to do its job in specific instances, ... in this case, protecting the border from the illegal "Invasion". I would ask any Freeper reading this who is a lawyer or legal scholar, what kind of action is possible, and to please post your opinions, or email me with any contribution you might make.

Once a class action suit, or a ballot initiative, or even just a "focused" grass roots movement, was started in earnest... citizens would be able to have a appropriate channel to support and to get information from regarding the REAL status of the protection of our borders. BUT, and this is a big BUT... any such action, suit, or movement ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT degenerate into a anti Mexican movement. The focus must be narrow and relate only to the protection of the borders and sovereignty of the United States. Already, we see fraudulent attempts at demonization of the citizen's groups that have organized in Cochise County, Arizona so far, if those who are against protecting our borders are allowed success at demonization of any newly established movement, they could derail the whole thing before it can begin to have an effect. The emphasis must be placed on the fact that 60%+ citizens believe that the Federal Government has failed to fulfill its single most important mandate, to protect the borders and citizens of this country.

Rep. Tom Tancredo clearly had taken the lead in this controversy, as he has shown the political courage that is sorely lacking in almost all our other elected representatives. If such a focused movement gets started, Tancredo could be the sponsor for legislation, and would be the prime consultant regarding legal and political issues. This is expanding in my mind as I write this. But, does anyone know of such an initiative already? It is important not to splinterize any nascent movement, and factual information is the best weapon and defense for such a movement, and our borders and nation. Please post any constructive ideas, and contact me if you have answers to the several questions I have posed here. God Bless America.

At one time on FR there was a very short discussion that a class action lawsuit could be started re: loss of our right to vote due to illegal alien vote fraud. I agree, that this border situation would seem to call for legal action as well.

Years ago I remember Michael Savage reported that Willie Brown, Mayor of Sam Francisco, announced he would FUND illegals with tax payers $ despite the illegality of it. I believe old Willie went as far as saying that SF would be the "home" of illegal aliens.

If elected officials knowingly break our laws, we must have the right to sue. Pressure should be put on state AGs first I think. (The dem ones won't do anything about the fraud anyway, then they can be added to the list of those named in the suit.) Would the ACU (sp?) ake a case such as this?
