The Ohio State Buckeyes-I appolgize for.
Cleveland Browns Fans Opinion Web

Posted on 11/21/2002 6:12:04 AM PST by TheCause

Go Bucks!

As a Buckeye, I want to apologize for the OSU football program. After listening to many at ESPN, and a number of national sports talk radio show hosts over the weekend, I want to apologize for the Buckeyes being 12-and-0.

I also want to apologize for the program beating six of the top 25 best offenses so far this season. After listening to all of these guys, I won't name names (you know who they are), I now realize that OSU's schedule must not have been very good.

Someone within the program should say they are sorry for beating Texas Tech and the fourth ranked offense in the country. And of course Tech has put up

those numbers against some weak teams, including Texas and Texas A-&-M. OSU was only leading 38-7 after three quarters and Tech's lone TD while the game was still a contest came on a great play their QB made on 4th and 2.

Apologies go out to WSU and Jason Gesser. OSU didn't realize you were going to finish the season as the Pac-10 champion. If the Buckeyes had realized what the rest of the nation is saying about them, which is they suck, they would have just rolled over for Gesser and the 11th ranked offense in the country. Shame on the Buckeyes for giving them that 25-7 beating. I know the Bucks are sorry.

OSU owes apologies to Purdue's 10th ranked offense, which they mistakenly held to 6 points and no touchdowns. Ditto to Illinois' 9th ranked offense,

which put up an eye popping 16 points in four-plus quarters.

Hey PSU and the 15th rated offense, OSU is sorry for getting lucky and beating you. The Buckeyes now know that Larry Johnson is the best back in the nation, which I actually believe, they didn't mean to hold him to 66 yards. Tell him they're sorry and didn't mean to interrupt his streak of setting Penn St. rushing records. That happened before the Bucks realized they suck.

According to the latest stats after this weekend's games, Ohio State has defeated the 4th (Texas Tech held to 21 points, at least 7 of which came late in the 4th Quarter against OSU's 3rd string D), 9th (Purdue held to 6 points), 10th (Illinois, held to 16 points), 11th (Washington State, held to 7 points), 15th (Penn St., held to 7 points), 23rd (UC, held to 19 points), & 46th (Minnesota, 3 points) rated offenses.

The Bucks now know all of this. If they are lucky enough to beat a dominating 9-and-2 team, which has won four games by three points, OSU will turn down the invitation to the game out in the desert. After listening to all of the "experts" over the last week OSU has realized it can't play football. Thanks for clearing this misunderstanding for them. Please strike the Buckeyes from the polls.

Don't let the fact that the Buckeyes have faced three Heisman Trophy candidates -- Larry Johnson, Jason Gesser and Kliff Kingsbury, dominating all three -- stand in your way.

I mean, clearly, we're not even the best team in the Big Ten correct? Iowa has played a tougher schedule correct? Their non-conference schedule included Akron, Miami (OH), Iowa State, & Utah State. Oh wait, no that can't be true because Ohio State played Texas Tech (Potential Big 12 champion), Washington State (probable PAC-10 Champion), Kent St. and UC. Just last week "experts" were claiming Texas could beat OSU head to head, could they not even beat Texas Tech?

IF, we are lucky enough to overcome the "Michigan" stigma and produce a victory this Saturday.....please continue to doubt us all the way to Arizona with a healthy Maurice Clarett.

In closing, does anyone know what Illinois, Purdue, PSU and Minnesota all have in common? Answer: They all were leading the conference in offense the week before OSU played them

Go Bucks!!! In Tress We Trust.

I'll be rooting for OSU this week. Let's hope the BigTen can put two teams into the BCS. Potentially four BigTen teams could finish in the Top Ten this year (assuming OSU and Michigan play a close game this week, so UM remains around #10).

If it's any consolation at all, the Hawks are getting similar treatment.

Being of the female persuasion, I do not retain stats (instead I remember birthdays,,,) but that's okay, because my intention is NOT to rebutt your post, but to commisserate with you.

Both teams have had remarkable seasons. Your teams tend to achieve greatness more often than our do, so it is really a BIG DEAL here.

I honestly think more Iowans will head to the bowl game than went to see the Pope when he visited Iowa back in '79.

I am a Buckeye Fan. I hope, dear Lord, you are with the Buckeyes as they face the annual curse - the fateful game with Michigan.

I honestly don't think I'll come in to work the next Monday if Ohio State loses to Michigan, again.

Go, Buckeyes!!!

Good post. As a fan outside of Ohio, I was feeling they had a week schedule. But this post clears that up for me.

This guy should start talking AFTER they beat Michigan (if they even do).

Seems all this cockiness is a bit premature.

Have the Buckeyes had any close games this year? Against who?

I think Ohio State will win this weekend and set up one of the most odd, lowest TV ratings National Championship games in a while. The reason is that I think Miami is going to lose one of its last two games. Both teams will be ranked outside the Top 10 when they play Miami(Pitt at #18 now and VT was #11 until they lost last night). Washington State will move intp #2 in the BCS and will play Ohio State in a re-match in the Fiesta Bowl. Oklahoma will have a chance to jump over WSU, but they will lose again.

You should know better than to jinx your Buckeyes. They have not played Michigan yet.

BTW - I actually think Iowa is tad bit better.

Yesterday morning on the Bob Conners show (WTVN 610 AM) he spoke to a local sportscaster who had spent a couple of days in Ann Arbor. the sportscaster quoted a Detroit area writer as saying "OSU is the most overrated 12-0 team in history". Sorry, but that title has to go to Brigham Young who several years ago finished 12 and 0 after beating a 6-5 Michigan team (6 and 6 after the game) in the Holiday Bowl and declared the National Champion as the only undefeated untied team. What a joke and I believe was the event that led to the idea "we gotta do something about this nonsense" and the formation of the BCS.

Nah...its merely giving discredit to the Buckeyes for winning even though they suck... < /sarcasm>

It is not a good idea to get up on your high horse, and stick your neck out before the Michigan game. OSU has NOT looked like a #2 team in many of their games this year, although is some games they look every bit the ranking. You, and Notre Dame fans, should not get your nose out of joint because people RIGHTLY point to the fact that OSU in many games against much lesser opponents have not appreared to be a power house team. I am a Tennesse fan, and when I saw them ranked 3 or 4 in preseason, I quickly said "No WAY", and I do not take offense if the so-called experts say the same.

Michigan fans claims they dont care about this game as much as the OSU fans... Which is not true... Do you think they would accept a loss to OSU? Heck no... I think they would rather lose to Northwestern than lose to OSU... Just like a 6-6 season is salvaged if OSU beats UM.

Here is what to look out for:

Last year, OSU pulled out a whole new playbook never seen before the Michigan game. Tressel is from the same fabric of Woody Hayes in his fervor to beat Michigan and I look for him to show a completely new scheme. Not saying it will be pass pass pass but I think there will be more misdirection, reverses and perhaps a shotgun here and there. I just think Tressel KNOWS the importance of this game better than John Cooper did. Which is the main reason Cooper was fired. Tressel knows the path to success at OSU is beating Michigan. Thats all the old fart boosters want to see.

Just my opinion...

You Buckeye fans crack me up.
Every time the Buckeyes have a chance for some national aspiration the Wolverines crush their pathetic hopes.
