The Republicans are worried he might prevent more Democrat voters from coming into the country.
We are destined to lose.

the Congressman accused Bush of pandering to Hispanic voters and trying to prop up Mexican President Vicente Fox by offering amnesty to certain undocumented immigrants.I don't know what Rove is so upset about. That's exactly what happened!

Tancredo's voice is needed to remind both parties that our borders need to be defended from illegal crossers. I hope he gets reelected in 2 years.
The Republicans are afraid to back him publicly as they don't want to scare off the Hispanic vote. Pete Wilson made similar comments when California was being overrun and was broke due to health-care and welfare payments to illegals. Wilson's comments were seized on by CA Democrats to win Hispanic voters to the Democrats.
The message Republicans must get out is that we offer economic and social opportunity to all citizens and legal immigrants. Republicans do believe the defense of America includes secure borders. Illegals of all nationalities should be found and deported. Framed that way, legal Hispanics will vote Republican as they have good family and social values.

More pandering from Newsmax. Notice that their only sources that suggest there will be a GOP challenge are outsiders. They have no source inside the administration.

Is anyone surpised by this? I'm not. They were willing to lose California rather than see Simon win. He was doing OK as far as I know until Bush sent his people went out there to split the party.

Heaven forbid we actually have any Republicans on the floor with any BALLS. No, we certainly can't have that.
I swear.....the Pubs are their own worst enemy.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, homeland insecurity has been passed and we still have 4000-6000 illegal trespassers crossing our borders every 24 hours.......1 out of 5 being OTM's (other than Mexicans).

I'm curious as to what Rove could possibly say in the President's and his defense? Whether they say it out loud or not, it's obvious that they are sensitive with minority/Latino votes and aren't exactly acting on the right thing to do. It's expected of Demonrats, but the President isn't truthful on this and is more concerned with pandering for votes and he just doesn't like being called on it by a member of his own party that can't stand to see this country invaded and excused for it.

How dare a member of Congress suggest that we have the right and duty to defend our borders!

Does this guy ever do his own reporting? Does he ever make a single phone call or do any research on what he writes?
Again Carl Limbacher recycles someone else's article and pretends its news. This Tancredo weeper is from another story and doesn't have a word that can be backed up.
It's always amazing to me how Carl can watch a talk show or read someone else's column, write a couple of hundred words and throw it up on Newsmax. I hope they don't pay him.

That declaration brought an angry 40-minute phone call from Rove, and Bush pointedly failed to introduce Tancredo to the crowd during a political rally in Colorado in September."
I'd like to know how they verified that it was a pointedly failure to introduce by President Bush... I wonder who was the one to verify that as I'd think only President Bush would know if he did indeed do that.... but IMO he didn't
Another view from a freeper who was in attendance and I believe is in Tancredo's district..... ff, using your post and pinging you to it. Hope you don't mind.

I was at that rally. Tom was one of the warm-up speakers for the President. Tom was not on stage with the president, to my recollection. The only folks on stage were the Governor, and the two national candidates in tight races, Beauprez and Allard. So it would have been weird for Bush to introduce someone not on the stage. It would also have been strange for Tancredo to be on stage but not the other Repub congressional candidates like Musgrave and Chlouber. Why? None of them were in tight races and the stage wasn't big enough for everyone.
The point of that rally was to rouse the troops for Allard and Beauprez, not to snub Tancredo.
Until this article, noone who attended the rally, mentioned to me that they had noticed a snub--and I have talked to a lot of folks about that rally.

I hope all the posters on this thread hold their nerve and do the right thing in 2004. If we don't stand behind a man of principle, who upholds his oath, if we allow him to be hung out to dry, who are we really?
