Somebody help me out here. Didn't Woodward manage to get an exclusive death-bed confession from Poindexter or something? The man is like "The Shadow".

Poindexter's still alive. It was William Casey, ex-CIA chief.

The book was Veil. CIA director, William Casey, was the subject.

No, not Poindexter but rather William Casey, the then former CIA director. Woodward was lying then as he probably was when he and Bernstein "spoke" with Deep Throat. Deep Throat was highly probably a collection of tips which were sourced from different people, each of whom had an ax to grind but none of whom wanted to be identified.

No way I'd ever believe that Poindexter talked at length to Woodward.

I always find it curious that Woodward's big sources often seem to be mysterious, nameless people, or folks who are dead.

Next thing we know Woodward will be claiming that Condi is really Deep Throat. When I want to read fiction, I go to the classics......and Woodward is NOT on the list.
