Great post. Only problem is that you're assuming that the democrats want honest elections. While I'm sure that some do, I think the turn that they've taken is more geared toward the "win at any cost" philosophy.

"The process would work just as well in getting facts if it were done by media as by the state" And what is the motivation for the media?

In my opinion a stop could be put to counties and precincts reporting late for the purpose of "finding" however many more votes they might need if NO votes were counted until ALL votes were in. And that seems that it would be fairly simple to implement.

The obvious conclusion is that salt water and real estate screws up the country.

Nice piece of writing, Billybob. OH! And nice work on the realities.

Billybob, this is an excellent and well assembled article. It helped me understand the complexities of vote fraud investigations. I only had one question in my mind: how do we insure that this isn't just ignored officially? Then I read your response #10
(Democrats, in reality would have to be dragged along, kicking and screaming. But that's okay. They're in the minority in S.D.)
The Pubbie majority would see to it. I learned a lot, thanks.

Yas, sir....Yas, sir. Greatly like you'n writin's, yessirre bob.
Kin' y'all up der in that there Carolina area put us here 'n Atlanta on a regular-like bump list of these here bulletins?
To: Congressman Billybob
Brilliant.
I refer to the article leading the thread. And to your reply #10...
When Thune conceded, his language suggested that he was encouraging something along the lines you are proposing.
It is not, however, something that he can take the lead in.
In addition, Thune is now positioned to squash Daschle (or whosomever might run in his stead) in 2004.
We didn't win the Jackrabbit State like we figured, but we can still make chicken salad out of this...well, y'know...

How about "Lets hear it for fraud - and REAL Thune" (?)
To: Congressman Billybob
With no seat at stake, everyone in South Dakota, not just the Republicans, has a stake in getting to the bottom of what happened in 2002, to make sure it doesnt happen again in 2004. He assumes the people of SD give a S**T now that "the election is over". He is wrong. Nothing will come of this.

If this state were divided into two electorates,
similar to how New Hampshire is set up, only
north and south divisons with 27 votes each,
the DemonRat liberals might never win another
California electorate or popular vote count!

Thanks for the ping to this one sweetliberty. Great piece o' work Billybob. I gotta tell ya, I was really sore at Thune for tuckin' tail til I read your article and another one earlier today basically stating the decision was likely made above Thune's pay grade. If Karl Rove is pulling most of the strings for "W" regarding campaigning/electioneering; he's one sharp cookie, eh?

The Republican tacticians at the national level have shown a refreshing and nearly unique capacity for thinking beyond the next election...what a crock and/or crook.

Great read, CBB!
As you know, we in Arkansas have a real uphill battle on our hands with vote fraud, you've been to that long thread and responded when pinged.
We need help here in Arkansas. Those of us just getting started in this battle are little folks. Arkansas is a state that is controlled by democrats, with very few exceptions.
Is there anyone whom we can trust, probably outside of the state, that we can contact who may get the ball rolling?
We are begging for help, guidance (which you have provided a lot of, so far), and someone to contact before our star wintess gives up in total fear!
I know you are one busy man and I'm asking for a lot, but this is important to this country and to me.
Budge - remember this?
