Change "religious right" in this letter to Jew or Muslim and no self-respecting newspaper in America would print it, due to the hate filled bigoted bile being spewed therein.

Of course, we all know that in places controlled by liberals, be it the media or Ithaca, the only acceptable bigotry is bigotry against Christians.

Ithaca is the City of Evil.

The article fails BIG TIME to report the "left wing" of the Democrat Party where teachers', steel workers' and labor unions' contributed in the millions against the Republican Party. Also, this article fails to mention newspapers, such as the New York Times, and the left-wing media (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN) who spew the left wing rhetoric against any conservative ideology.

... To create the Kingdom of God on earth ...
Uh, right. Only it can't be done. Only their scriptures plainly say it can't be done, and imply that when it is tried, it results in disaster. And those who do try they generally refer to as "antichrist."

Has it occurred to anyone else that lefties actually CRAVE tyranny, and not just at the subconscious level?

They must. Look how often they've wailed about the "inevitable" imposition of a fundamentalist theocracy, since last Tuesday.

I think they're secretly looking forward to the fulfillment of their fantasy.

"OH GOOD! Now we really CAN be oppressed!"

...and a great loss for anyone who values democracy and a pluralistic society.

Since this phrase includes only liberal socialists ... who cares?

If you (generic you) don't believe in the values of a constitutionally mandated republic, nor in the idea that Americans should be, well...Americans, without all the hyphenating and third world "values," just why are you here?

Frankly, only those incapable of thought would even want the tyranny of a pluralistic democracy. Such screeds as this one are only penned by those who cannot think beyond tomorrow morning. Pitiful.

Why do the churches active in the religious right vote exclusively Republican?

Has this writer ever heard of the "Religious Left?"

Ah, could it be because the Dems exclusively promote Godless, selfish, humanistic values...

Why do dems keep trying to steal the American people's money and dump it down sink holes!

Hello!

Two Speeches by Joan Bokaer:
Fundamentalism and the New Right (1986)
& Perspectives on the Arms Race (1985)

Joan Bokaer is with the Center for Religion, Ethics and Social Policy at Cornell University. These two very informative, meticulously researched speeches have been widely circulated on audiotape because Ms.Bokaer is a master at tying together the underlying threads of America's foreign and domestic policy. Although these two speeches appear to have different topics, Ms. Bokaer points out that the arms race and the upsurge in fundamentalist cults are, in fact, intimately related. $2.00

Things a liberal believes:

1. If you're a member of a fundamentalist, Pentecostal or charismatic church, you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

2. The "religious right" should be outlawed. Only the "religious left" should be allowed to exist.

3. If you are a candidate for the House or Senate or presently hold office you are disqualified if you've ever been even remotely associated with the "religious right". You DEFINITELY cannot be considered for a leadership position.

4. You are disqualified from having any influence in society if you have a "religious right" perspective

5. The religious right is intolerant and would impose intolerance if they ever ran things. They aren't diverse like those paragons of tolerence - i.e. academia, the demoncrat party, or the editorial board of the NY Times.

Why do the churches active in the religious right vote exclusively Republican?

Because Christian churches believe in a value system based upon the bible. The beliefs espoused by the Marxists, homosexuals and lesbians and anti-American extremists that have hijacked the Democratic Party are practically the exact opposite of the "religious right".

I hope thses Democrats go right ahead and drag their party even further to the left. Go ahead, pick a Democratic Socialist as your Minority Leader. Take your direction from the most extreme laftwing radicals that you can find. "Re-energize" the winos, welfare cheats and dead guys that support you.

The Democrats are in a real deep hole already, far be it from me to suggest they should stop trying to dig their way out.

I suggest looking at fundamentalist, Pentecostal, and charismatic churches. I think you'll find their members voted en mass along a straight Republican ticket, providing as many as 25 million votes

You're welcome Joan.

Conservative Americans who go to church occasionally = "religious right."

And this author is shocked that they vote Republican?

The horror of it all.

That, plus this:

Major premise: intolerance is evil
Minor premise: Christianity is intolerant
Conclusion: Christianity is evil — and must not be tolerated

You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out....

You are absolutely correct. Christians are the only group that can be openly abused without crying defamation. Having said that; I am not impressed with the religious right at all. The second coming of Christ has been mistakenly identified by idiots’ evangelist for hundreds of years. The hillbillies who follow these gold diggers TV evangelists will eventually wake up and realize the fiery sermons are just a bunch of BS to get money from tem. I still cannot understand why is it that every freeking evangelist and his wife have to dress like a pimps and hookers? They probably don’t have mirrors in Texas? To me Christianity means love, and forgiveness. Jesus was a humble and meek person, he did not have all the gold and exaggerated blond wigs! (Sorry, I love Texas, but it seems to be a breeding grounds for these crazy looking preachers).

As far as why Christians vote Republican en mass; that is simply because the other side stinks! They are godless, homosexual, money grabbing perverts, with communists added in for flavor.

This writer's ignorance to the Christian motivation is laughable. Her inability to see her own, and her left wing intolerance, is even more transparent.

Oh no, our plot has been uncovered, and Jesus was SO CLOSE! Curses, foiled again.

The last chapter of Ann Coulter's Slander expounds in great detail how the so-called "religious right" as a lobby group does not really exist at all, but is simply used to demonize by the left. Excellent book all around. As a card-carrying member of the religious right, I highly recommend it. :)

I almost blew a gasket when I read this letter this morning in the Ithaca Urinal. Then I remembered that the more these people rant on--incorrectly--about why their side lost on election day, the more they will continue to marginalize themselves. Let them believe that the religious right controls the Republican Party, and that the Democratic Party needs to move more to the left in order to recapture disaffected liberals who are voting for Ralph Nader and the Green Party. We shouldn't argue with them, we should just nod our heads and go on winning the hearts and minds (and votes) of the majority of Americans.
