Latest Gallup Poll: How Sweet It Is!....



November 14, 2002: Entertaining news today in the form of a new Gallup post-election poll. It seems that the party of prevaricating Slick Willie, portly Ted Kennedy and unspeakably irritating AlBore has taken a hit in the image department. Americans simply aren't enamored with the Jackass Party right now.

Here's a brief excerpt from Gallup's report:

According to Gallup's first post-election poll, conducted Nov. 8-10, less than half of Americans view Democrats favorably or believe that the Democratic leaders in the U.S. House and Senate would move the country in the right direction. More Americans are now dissatisfied with the Democrats' political ideology than agree with it, and less than one-third say the party has a clear plan for solving the country's problems. On the important issue of terrorism, a majority of Americans believe the Democrats are not tough enough.

Of course, the Democratic Party really doesn't have anything to worry about. After all, corrupt Clinton-appointed Democratic Chairman Terry McCauliffe is bound to come up with some more of that savvy political magic that he used to help Jeb Bush to sweep to victory in Florida. And once career radical Nancy Pelosi assumes the Democratic House leadership position, she is bound to mesmerize American voters with her stalwart support for same-sex marriages and opposition to American military action of any kind unless it's against William Bennet.

I'm very skeptical of all this talk of the Dim party self-destructing and imploding. This was the same talk in 1998 or the Repubs. IMHO, both parties are trying to navigate without any better compass than public opinion polls which is no compass at all.

The prospect of Trent Lott as the Senate majority leader does not bode well for finding a guiding vision for the Repubs. As for me, I'm celebrating but with much restraint.

As with the conniving Clintons, it never ceases to amaze me that others could not see through these shysters, til now.

When the calculating Clintons surfaced as candidates, it was a revelation that there were actually people (brain-dead?) out there that would vote for them. It was so obvious that they were not presidential material, a fact that has been proven over and over again.

And Democrats interpretation of this is that they weren't openly liberal enough. Hence Nancy Pelosi. We'll see.

The bright side is that Hillary can't hog the limelight like she would in NYC--although she'll no doubt get her share of glory in Boston. The GOP needs to pin down NYC pronto as the site of their 2004 convention, IMO.

With you, aardvark1. It's great to see good things come to fruition, but socialism is like a hydra. It has many heads and forms that never die. Look at the USSR, Cuba, Korea - people are still talking about how great communism is, every proof to the contrary. And the EU is just pathetic - socialism will never catchup to capitalism because it is the glorification of mediocrity rather than the pursuit of perfection.

If by some strange chance, the Demo party dies, look for another party to form to take its place, or worse, a split off from the pubbies ("centrists") to fill the void.
