Manama |By A Correspondent | 12-11-2002 Print friendly format | Email to Friend A former U.S. Senator is to arrive today in Bahrain to lecture on 'behind the scene influence of the Zionist lobby on U.S. politics,' at the invitation of a local religious centre, a spokesman told Gulf News yesterday.
David Duke, who represented Louisiana in the U.S. Senate from 1989 to 1991 and ran unsuccessfully for governor the same year, "is a well-known critic of the Zionist lobby in the U.S. and its threat to the U.S. national security," said Mohammed Zuhair, manager of Discover Islam Centre.
The centre, an educational institute serving mostly the non-Muslim community in Bahrain, is sponsoring Duke's four-day visit.
"During his stay, he will deliver two lectures, 'Global Struggle against Zionism' and "Israeli Involvement in September 11 (attacks)'. Both will be open to the public and followed by a question and answer session," Zuhair said.
Duke is a figure with controversial ideas. He is accused of being a white supremacist and anti-Semite since his days in university in the early 1970s when he founded the White Youth Alliance as an anti-black organisation. He went on to join the racist Ku Klux Klan in 1974.
"But he quit this organisation in 1978; now he is a mainstream politician, a member of the Republican Party," Zuhair insisted.
He said Duke was not being invited because of his perceived anti-Jewish stand but because he has recently authored a book that 'exposes the Zionist agenda for world domination."

He is from Lake Jackson, Texas - my hometown. But Selena also used to live there. I knew her when she was very very young and living there. Ron Paul is from there. And several beauty queens are from Lake Jackson. Duke is our most INFAMOUS former citizen! He never ceases to embarrass us!!!!!!!!

Someone should tell "Gulf news" that Duke was never a US Senator.

If I said what I thought about David Duke, I'd get a time-out at best.

Be kind. He's at least among friends. Let's just hope he has a carnal meeting with a camel while he's there.

Maybe he'll be bestowed with his new Muslim name. Daoud Al Dukeh.

I think it's safe to say that he embarrasses people even outside Lake Jackson, Texas.

Someone should tell "Gulf news" that Duke was never a US Senator. And someone should tell them that the Republican Party never accepted Duke, Duke just decided to run as a Republican, to the horror of all real Republicans. But I guess this isn't what the "Gulf news" wants to hear.

I think the day is soon coming when hard-left liberalism is as politically viable in this country as white racism. Good riddance to both.

Er, he WAS a member of the party. Is there some ex-communication the Republicans can do so that people can't call him an ex- member anymore?

Let's just hope he has a carnal meeting with a camel while he's there. There would be an mutual attraction there. Camels are notoriously dirty, stinky, bad-dipositioned and they spit. But just imagine the offspring....

Its interesting from psychological stadpoint: in his hatred of the Jews he is willing to unite with enemies of his country.

I thought Duke was a US Representative...not in the senate.
To: dennisw
Duke is the type of dirtbag that gives us white guys a bad name. It's too bad we can't revoke his passport and deny him re-entry.

Good news jpl. His American passport
can be revoked.
I have the Code of Federal Regulations and other federal rules (it is not his passport anyway. The true 'owner' is the United States State Department for the United States Government).
Well, we can just freep here. But I know others can actually take action so that Mr. Duke has an INS detention hearing waiting for him upon his return to the United States and have his passport taken away from him with due cause.
