A Mad Dash To Freedom
On October 29, 2002, about 200 Haitians jumped off a stranded wooden freighter into the shallows off Key Biscayne. They lunged through chest-deep water in a mad scramble to evade the U. S. Coast Guard and the police to complete their illegal journey to Miami.
With news helicopters capturing them live on national television, dozens of Haitians flooded onto a causeway leading to Miami as police officers converged. Many of the Haitians began commandeering passing cars and pick-up trucks and leaping onto truck beds. The Miami police closed the causeway for about two hours, clogging rush hour traffic as they searched for Haitians under bridges and in bushes.
One police spokesperson said, "A lot of them tried getting off the bridge and used any vehicle at their disposal to do so. We will never know how many of them got away."
The U.S. Coast Guard dispatched two aircraft and 12 vessels trying to find any Haitians still on the water. There were no reports of any fatalities or injuries.
Several years ago, the United States made an all-out effort to bring order and government to Haiti. At a high expense to Americans, I might add.
In a few short years, the Haitians managed to eradicate all American efforts to head them in the direction of civilization. This island paradise that was once a magnet for tourists has been desecrated and demolished by the very people who depended on tourists for support. With constant begging, filthy conditions and a penchant for violence, Haiti has brought itself back to acute poverty. They raped and polluted their land. Now they are attempting to enter this country illegally and continue their plunder.
Naturally, the Haitian population in Little Haiti took to the streets with signs demanding that the Haitians be allowed to remain in this country. Why is it that so many people have the time and the wherewithal to protest anything during the day? What happened to going to work and earning a living? In any event, how the Haitian immigrants living in this country have the unmitigated gall to demand anything is a mystery to me.
Certain race preference (known in the media as "civil rights") advocates and a growing number of left-wing (known in the media as "liberal") lawmakers have criticized even the suggestion of returning the illegal Haitians to Haiti. They view this policy as discriminatory. The illegal aliens' advocates said that the recent events were evidence of just how dire life in Haiti has become.
Life in Haiti has become what the Haitians have made it. In spite of massive amounts of U.S. foreign aid, the country continues to be a cesspool. The government, elected by the Haitians, is a conglomeration of thieves and sadists, to say nothing of being too ignorant to attempt any semblance of order or civilized conduct.
Of the 22 heads of state [in Haiti] between 1843 and 1915, only one served out his prescribed term of office, three died while serving, one was blown up with his palace, one presumably poisoned, one hacked to pieces by a mob, one resigned. The other 14 were deposed by revolution after incumbencies ranging in length from three months to 12 years. (From Haiti - A Country Study by the Library of Congress)
The Haitians arrived in this country, mostly illegally, and began forming pockets of poverty as it exists in Haiti. They wallow in conditions of crime, filth and disregard for human life.
The media has played this event out like a Greek tragedy. The only tragedy here is that Americans will again dig deep into their pockets to rectify an already hopeless effort to elevate Haitians and other illegal aliens.
When will we ever learn?

The recent boatload of Haitans are not going to be allowed to stay here, most will be deported. At least that's the way it looks:
Yeah for the ones who got away, forget it, we'll never see them again. The INS doesn't have the time to be bothered to go looking and enforce the law. The fact we have 10+ million illegal aliens in the country speaks volumes about their intentions.
