[history]
WASHINGTON -- The number of married teenagers surged nearly 50 percent during the 1990s, reversing a decades-long decline.
Marriage remains fairly uncommon in this age group -- only 4.5 percent of 15- to 19-year-olds were hitched in 2000 -- but researchers were nonetheless surprised by the increase reported by the Census Bureau.

I'm no statistician, but it seems to me that divorce rates and age of marriage seemed to climb together...in other words, waiting until your out of college and sewed your wild oats doesn't necessarily bode well for a long and fruitful marriage.

Not being religious my conception of marriage is that its main purpose is to provide a stable enviroment for children. Therefore it should be financially viable.

On a slightly different thought, one of the most disgusting things I've seen is a couple of soldiers I knew years ago. One male and female soldier hooked up and got married for the simple convenience of receiving higher pay and off base housing. They never really lived together as man and wife, it was more of a business arrangement. I wonder what ever became of them sometimes, then again, probably better not knowing.

it was more of a business arrangement Thats what marriage was for most of history and it works better that way. Of course this is a fraudulent business arrangement( I don't think anyone below the equivalent for each service of lets say major should be allowed to get married if you have a family you'll not be as brave but im speaking as a civilian the Romans had a similiar law).

This group of teenagers are not just conservative, they are overwhelming turning to Christianity as guidepost to "rights" and "wrongs", good and evil. If you go to church, you will see a large proportion of attendees are this group of teenagers. They are literally running away from their parents ideologies because of what that ideologies have resulted in: Divorce, abortion, drugs,pre-marital sex which led to children out of wedlock, abortion, drugs, acceptance of fornication as being normal, abortion, drugs, adultry, drugs, "Me-ism" - Do your own thing, I'm to busy doing MY own thing, drugs, multiple sex partners, abortions, drugs, acceptance of homosexuality as just "another lifestyle", abortion, drugs, arrogance, haughtiness, voyeurism, greed, pride, egotism, satanism, occultism, crystal "magic", astrology, Gaiaism, "I AM-ism, Environmental Wacko-ism, "Political Correctness" = "Just tell me what to say and believe and I'll just repeat it over and over again", abortion, drugs, corruption, situational ethics, No absolutism, abortion, drugs, anti-Christian and anti-Jewish bigotry, atheism, feminism (Dyke-ism), IDOLATRY, pantheism, hedonism, communism, socialism, hinduism, islam, EVILUTION, and did I mention abortion and drugs? The pendulum is swinging to the "right" side now. They are smart and realize that If you're not on the "Right Side", you will be "Left Behind".

Just screw, have kids, and share a paycheck. That's exactly the attitude that has created the current situation of the breakdown of the family, increased welfare, fatherless kids, increased crime, increased drug use, etc.

Keep thinking that way.....and unfortunately for you, you will INEVITABLY get your wish. But when you realize what HELL is really like, it will be too late for you to change your mind. But, it's still not too late NOW. Seek for the truth with all your heart, soul and mind, and you will find it.

At least two-thirds of married teens in 2000 lived apart from their spouse for various reasons; one may have been in jail, away in college or remaining in their homeland. They don't sound like they're VERY married.
