Are you sure it isn't reupbs spoilers against Libertarian candidates?

Who owns those votes anyway Republican party, Libertarian party, or the individual who cast them in their best interest?

Didn't make any difference in California. Simon won in 40 of our 58 counties. As usual, Los Angeles & San Francisco did us in. BUT IF ALL THE REPUBLICANS WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THEIR LAZY BUTTS TO THE POLLS AND VOTED FOR SIMON, HE'D HAVE WON. So we're stuck with "Gay" Davis for FOUR MORE YEARS! Ack!

Oh, and why is that the same folks who argue that Libertarians are drug-addled utopian extremists also believe that Libertarians should vote for the Republican party?

Once the Republicans start to vote the way they say they believe, I'll start to be sympathetic.

I suppose if you republicans stop embracing socialism and statism, I will vote for you again. Between the way republicans act when they get in power and the way you all treat libertarians here, I decided not to vote for the lesser of two evils anymore. No thanks.

Maybe the Republican Party ought to try actually doing what they claim - limiting government and reducing the budgets.

Might get 'em a few more votes from those who expect politicians to do what they say.

I'm confused ... why are Republicans mad at Libertarians for not voting for the Republican candidate ??? Isn't it the Republicans job to give the Libertarians a reason to vote for them? If the Libertarians are not voting Republican isn't it the Republicans fault for not given them a reason too. Seems to me that the Libertarians could be mad at the Republicans for not voting Libertarian for the same reasons.

I'm proud to have voted for Libertarian Murray Sabrin for governor here in New Jersey in 1996 over RINO Christie Whitman. The fact that Whitman appointed DEMOCRATS to the state supreme court is the sole reson Frank Lautenberg was even in the race this Election Day.

Republicans can have all the libertarian votes that they want. Just support Constitutional and limited government and watch the Libertarian Party vote dwindle to nothing.

I voted a straight R ticket this time, but unless the Republicans deliver (lower taxes, less intrusive federal gov, and, especially a repeal of the Brady Bill and the expiration of the Ugly Gun and standard magazine ban) they won't get my vote next time.

Food for the trash compactor.

Those Libertarian votes don't automatically go republican simply because they're denied the ballot.

Instead, where there is crossover in other races (local, state congress), Republicans lose even MORE votes because we stay home.

Not to mention that Thune will probably lose South Dakota Senate seat by a smaller margin that the Libertarian in that race got... (D) Johnson 167,481 C+ *(R) Thune 166,954 A (L) Evans 3,071 So basically Libertarians brought 2 anti-gun governors, and possibly kept Daschle's clone in power. My question is why Libertarians run against good pro-gun candidates? I realize that there are other issues besides guns. Meanwhile people of Wisconsin have to wait another 4 years for gun licenses... Food for thought.

Here's some food for thought: Some 337,000+ voted in this race. Assuming 40% participation (just going with an average here) that leaves 500,000+ registered voters that chose not to vote at all. Before blaming a loss on 3000+ that actually made it to the polls, but chose not to vote for your candidate, maybe you should first look at those in the 500,000+ that would have voted for your candidate, but didn't even make the effort.

It is unfortunate that this is happening. But what do Republicans expect? They constantly spew venom at Libertarians. The folly is that Libertarians tend to support the core issues that Republicans support. And the votes that go to Libertarians will be displaced from the Republicans. The same thing happened on the other side when Nader (Green)tooks votes from Gore....probably costing Gore the Presidency...thank God! If Republicans would just embrace the Libertarians on their common ground...and spread the love....then maybe more Libertarians would give up their votes to the Republican candidates. It just seems prudent to me.

Do you have ANY PROOF that those voting for a Libertarian Candidate are in fact 'Libertarians'????

Or is more of a case where people go in to vote, mostly on LOCAL issues etc, and don't like EITHER the Dem or Repub candidate and vote for the Libertarian in order to send a message??

Besides...if the Republican Party in those states cannot get our ALL of their Registered party members...(in which case they would have won easily)....why insist on blaming someone else???

Dole (R), won in North Carolina, she's anti-gun or has she changed her spots?

On the other hand. If all the people who had voted for the Republican candidate had voted for the Libertarian candidate some of these states would now have a Libertarian governor.

8-)
