Libertarians are big time spoilers in Gov races

* means NRA endorsment. Grade is the NRA grade.

Alabama:

*(D) Siegelman 674,052 A+

(R) Riley 670,913 A

(L) Sophocleus 23,242

Oregon:

(D) Kulongoski 493,385 C+

(R) Mannix 490,745 A

(L) Cox 47,444

Wisconsin:

(D) Doyle 800,958 F

*(R) McCallum 732,781 A

(L) Thompson 185,085

Wyoming:

(D) Freudenthal 89,407 A-

*(R) Bebout 85,556 A+

(L) Dawson 3,800

Not to mention that Thune will probably lose South Dakota Senate seat by a smaller margin that the Libertarian in that race got...

(D) Johnson 167,481 C+

*(R) Thune 166,954 A

(L) Evans 3,071

So basically Libertarians brought 2 anti-gun governors, and possibly kept Daschle's clone in power. My question is why Libertarians run against good pro-gun candidates? I realize that there are other issues besides guns. Meanwhile people of Wisconsin have to wait another 4 years for gun licenses...

It's worse than that. The Democrats laughingly call the Libertarians their "RIGHT ARM."

Yeah, it sure is stupid to vote based on principles rather than expediency, isn't it? The important thing is to get elected, not to actually stand for something. How silly those Libertarians are!

I can appreciate that you vote for principle over expediency, but don't you think it would be wiser to support the candidate that is closer to you and has a better chance of winning with your support?

Or you can pull a Ron Paul, who wisely joined a more-electable party, garnered instant respect by doing so, was elected and is able to influence it from within.

Of course, their preference would have been to elect Thompson. That the Republican candidate lost is the fault of the Republican candidate. END OF STORY.

You are right. The thought I had intended to express was "free" in the sense of "freely available." Clearly that one got lost in translation. My bad.

Man, though, you libertarians are a prickly bunch. I better duck my head when I drive past the Cato Institute tonight.

If they are the Conservatives they claim to be, seems to me to be no contest.

And therein lies the rub. The LP does not claim to be conservative. I personally went from a Dem to voting libertarian.

Oh, and why is that the same folks who argue that Libertarians are drug-addled utopian extremists also believe that Libertarians should vote for the Republican party?

Voting for a party that has no intention of winning is stupid. That's not what political parties are for.

Tell that to the Democrats here in Idaho.

Of course, their preference would have been to elect Thompson.

They couldn't have smoked enough dope to think that was a realistic possibility. Doyle is their "Libertarian" Governor.

silly notions of 'sending a message'

So who is sillier, those who send the message or those who pay the price for not heeding the message?

Maybe if you Republicans sent more messages to your candidates others wouldn't have to.

Maybe if your party addressed the concerns of those who voted for other candidates, they wouldn't have a reason to vote for other candidates and send messages.

Food for thought by thoughtful people. Know any?

There were years that T.Thompson could have gotten anything passed that he had a mind to. Your contnetion was that now that the socialist Doyle is in charge concealed carry is a dead issue. It has been a dead issue for 16 years. If this is your one issue, it is time to realise that you are being given lip service by those you vote for.

We send messages to the party, incumbents, and candidates all the time. That's the advantage of having a roadworthy vehicle to drive in on the political highway, instead of a skateboard.

Libertarians are getting to be worse than the French.

Republican are getting to be worse than those they claim to oppose, but whom they abet in expanding government.

Admit what? I'm sorry, but I have no idea which post you are referring to. I admit that I voted for Republicans, if that's what you mean. Crucify me.

NOT electing democrats is the HIGHEST principle we can hold to in these times.

That tells it all. Power above all else. Republican before American.

Because their own sites are virtual cemetaries.

Then why do they carp all the time about Republicans aren't Conservative enough for them? I truly DO NOT understand. I wish I could. For a 'group,' club, body politic, or anyone to go about gathering up the amount of animosity these people are, is simply astounding. And for what reason, I just don't know.
