* means NRA endorsment. Grade is the NRA grade.
Alabama:
*(D) Siegelman 674,052 A+
(R) Riley 670,913 A
(L) Sophocleus 23,242
Oregon:
(D) Kulongoski 493,385 C+
(R) Mannix 490,745 A
(L) Cox 47,444
Wisconsin:
(D) Doyle 800,958 F
*(R) McCallum 732,781 A
(L) Thompson 185,085
Wyoming:
(D) Freudenthal 89,407 A-
*(R) Bebout 85,556 A+
(L) Dawson 3,800
Not to mention that Thune will probably lose South Dakota Senate seat by a smaller margin that the Libertarian in that race got...
(D) Johnson 167,481 C+
*(R) Thune 166,954 A
(L) Evans 3,071
So basically Libertarians brought 2 anti-gun governors, and possibly kept Daschle's clone in power. My question is why Libertarians run against good pro-gun candidates? I realize that there are other issues besides guns. Meanwhile people of Wisconsin have to wait another 4 years for gun licenses...

Then build your Party. There is nothing I can say to you, or you, me evidently. Perhaps this just isn't the right day for me to try to understand. I'll have a little time next Spring and will try it again. After 3 days of spending what time I could reading through post after post of this stuff, all I can tell as of now, it's been wasted effort. It was important to me, as I have friends who call themselves Libertarians. However, we never talk Politics, it's just a casual friendship thing. So, anyway...good luck to you and God Bless.

Nobody want to bet with me? Is it because you know the Republican "small government" crowd is powerless, and that the actual result of Republican governance will be BIGGER government?
And you have the gall to demand we vote Republican anyway?

While I'm at it ... it seems that some posters here call Libertarians losers and druggies and yet are also angry at them for not voting Republican. It would seem to me that if Libertarians are losers and druggies that the Republicans would not want to be associated with them. I mean ... if their mad at the Libertarians for not voting for them ... why are they not mad at the Greens too ???

Because people around here root for political parties like they vote for sports teams. They win if their team wins, regardless of anything else. What you're requesting would require introspection.

Is your Party for legalization of drugs or not? I can't tell as some of you say it is and some say not. Which is it?
To: Letitring
All I want is for the Republican party to stick to it's guns on following the constitution. Yes, some do demand ideological purity, and let the perfect be the enemy of the good. I agree that's usually dumb and unrealistic.

BTW, I voted straight Republican.I didn't.

First of all, I seriously doubt you're going to hurt TJ's feelings.
Secondly, I happen to admire TJ's responses. He's always very sharp in his analysis and has a way of stating things with clarity that makes me envious.
Perhaps it makes you envious as well and that's at the root of your complaint against him.

Thank you. Maybe we can talk more later for positive suggestions and solutions. I hope so as it seems to me there are far better things to fight 'out there' than one another, in here.

No, I stated my complaint as I saw it, pretty clearly, I thought.

I've got to leave now. Good day to all.

Most libertarians I know are pro-life. Very true in my experience as well, and I'm nominally a pro-choice libertarian.

I'm proud to have voted for Libertarian Murray Sabrin for governor here in New Jersey in 1996 over RINO Christie Whitman. The fact that Whitman appointed DEMOCRATS to the state supreme court is the sole reson Frank Lautenberg was even in the race this Election Day.

I give what I get. People who are civil and want to discuss ideas are treated with civility. People who lie and hurl insults are treated in kind.
Most of this site does not seem to value the former. Posters who hate libertarians are allowed to pursue their agenda by posting threads aimed at trolling for flame wars. Other respond in kind.
It's a circle. If you don't like my attitude, it's a personal problem for you. I'm not here to make friends in cyber space. It's one of the few places in life where you can say what you want and no one's feeling will be hurt. If they are, those people just don't get cyberspace.

why are Republicans mad at Libertarians for not voting for the Republican candidate ???
Isn't it the Republicans job to give the Libertarians a reason to vote for them? Many here seem to believe that Republicans indeed DO represent all that is good and just and are rolling back liberalism. They can't understand why some folks just can't see that. They believe libertarians are a natural constituency of the GOP and are mad because to them Libertarians are too dense to see the brilliance of Republicans. Thus the anger and acrimony.

I was a 30 year Democrat ... till day before yesterday. I presently don't have a party because I have come to the realization that the Democratic party no longer represents me or my views values morals or ethics ... so I am trying to find my identity. I am looking out here to see if I can find a party affiliation that is more aligned with my views and my values.
I am :
Pro Second Amendment
Anti Late Term Abortion
VERY anti-nanny state
Pro helping hand BUT anti hand-out
Very Pro self determination
Pro God but feel that it has NO place in Government including public schools. That means ANY religion.
Teach evolution in school ... teach Creatism in church let the student decide which is right
I hate ..no .. I HATE DRUGS ... but feel that it's not the governments place to dictate what we wish to put in our bodies. Nor is it the governments place to tell us to wear helmets, or seatbelt etc.
Anti-big business running unchecked ... my grandparents and even my parents remember sweatshops and union busting, head busting, shop goons.
I remember the days of heavy polluting businesses till government made them clean up their acts.
So ... here I am ... any suggestions ????
To: Letitring
Democrats are not remotely conservative. Check out Charlie Stenholm.

BTW, my name ain't Jeff.
