The sad thing is that after the gun went off his family had him replaced with a very realistic-looking robot. It looks just like him, but is stiff and mechanical.

What I've always liked about that photo (aside from the obvious gun safety issues - even if he doesn't have a mag in, how does he know there's not one up the spout?) is that the jacket, boonie hat, pack &c are obviously fresh out of QM stores - they are spotlessly clean and still have creases, fer cryin' out loud. Here's another picture apparently taken at the same time -- same patch of grass in the background:

You can see better how clean and unused everything is, and he's still adjusting his crooked pack harness before they hand him his rifle. Somebody handed him all this stuff and said, "Here, put all this on so we can take your picture for the folks back home who don't know you're engaged in REMF duty piloting a typewriter." And AlBore said, "How do I put this thing on? And what is it?"
