Very quiet day on watch today.
The CO and XO had a meeting with me today.
Turns out they have been discussing better utilization of me at the station.
It's part of a new Coast Guard program for Auxiliary members.
I'm in a unique category because of my radio watchstanding.
What they need me to do is become more involved in the operations phase of the base.
This will include working directly under the Operations Officer (my forner Training Officer).
I'll be working for him, the CO or XO as needed.
They will also be sending me out on the Coast Guard boats for training as a crewman.
The idea is to get me fully involved in all phases of operations
(except Law Enforcement which is not allowed for Auxiliary members by law.)
I'm still a qualified radio watchstander but instead of standing a regular watch
they want me "out from behind the desk" and into the station operations.
I'm really excited about these changes
and it will assist me in my new Auxiliary officer position also.
