Parents' Rights Expecting Second Round of Legislative Attack Following Election

Sacramento, CA - Absent contravening federal legislation, parents' rights in California will likely be further challenged following the statewide results of yesterday's election. With the election behind him, many legislative experts anticipate Governor Gray Davis to more aggressively sign off on bills that were either vetoed or tabled during the last legislative session.

Such bills included AB 2651, which was vetoed by Governor Gray Davis on "timing grounds." It would have given broader discretion to social workers to disregard the religious beliefs and preferences of a foster child's original parents in choosing a place for them to live. "We expect to see this bill again, and we're doubtful a second veto would occur," said Mike Meers of the Capitol Resource Institute.

Regarding the impact of yesterday's election on future legislation, Assemblyman Tim Leslie said "Despite a two-seat Republican gain in the assembly, the legislature is expected to be even more liberal and anti-family than last year. Pacific Justice Institute is one of the few hopes we have at stemming the attack on the traditional family. Thank God they are there fighting with us." "Without question, we expect to have to work harder over the next two years due to the statewide election results," said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute.

The Pacific Justice Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) legal defense organization specializing in the defense of religious freedom, parental rights, and other civil liberties.

Forty of our 58 counties went for Simon. If it weren't for the votes from counties such as Los Angeles & San Francisco, Simon would have won. People have talked about dividing the state or instituting a form of "electoral college" but you'd have to change the state constitution. As it is, Los Angeles control everything! I hate Los Angeles, not to mention San Francisco! Ack!!

Yet somehow they will try to convince their pet Rat voters that it's the GOP's fault. And the morons will believe them.

Well, there are some good, conservative Republicans working in the Capitol, not to mention the innocent janitorial staff.

Home-schoolers will be a high priority target.

Charter schools will be first. Jack O'Connell is an NEA stooge if there ever was one and he's been told to put the screws to the charters who have "financial and accountability irregularities"....of course, the regular government schools, such as the LA School District billing Sacramento for $120 million worth of phantom students and was forgiven of its debt by Doofus Davis, will continue to spend like drunken sailors on everything except educating its students.

In my opinion, homeschoolers better put aside their politics and support both HSLDA and Family Protection Ministries (Lincoln, CA). They're our thin blue line.

It is sad that California used to be the place where people ran to for hope and a new life. Now they run from it.

I am going to shock the crap out of some of you. This very day, I heard a democrat call Gov. Davis "Jesus" because of the way he pulled off this election. Yes, that's right. She compared our corrupt, creepy, disgusting governor to "Jesus" like Davis is her savior or something. I almost threw up!!!!!! Now THAT'S some scary sh-t!

My Dad moved us here from Missouri in 1960. It was a wonderful place back then and all of us got a good education. Now it's a hell hole and that's no lie.

I'm sorry for being glib, but here in Virginia my fellow hillbillies would be about ready to take up arms...seriously.

People, all people (even Californians) will only stand for so much and no more.

As my name is translated I'm a warrior in the spirit and believe that if the Christians out there in CA (and there are a lot of them despite the "hollywierd" crud) would fast and pray for revival and deliverance that God would hear and act on His people's behalf.
God has done it before and not that long ago:

REMEMBER AZUZA STREET!

Assembly Republicans have a golden opportunity to vote against ANY budget that contains ANY tax increase. Here's a chance to really cause a lot of mischief up in Sacramento. The GOP has absolutely nothing to lose...afterall, their seats are safe.

My mind would be numb with grief if I lived in CA right now.

Actually, if you're even a moderately conservative person who has lived in California for any length of time, you develop a somewhat thick skin for this kind of disappointment. People here are constantly assaulted with revelations of new laws, policies, lawsuits, etc. whose leftist stupidity simply defies belief. I am not shocked or confused by the California results. I know what we're up against here.

Davis is a corrupt politician; even the Democrats readily admit to that. But the Democrats, mostly from LA and SF areas, voted him in anyway simply to keep power. The hardcore Democrats here didn't vote for Davis because they mistakenly believe he is the better choice. They voted for him because he is a Democrat, and principles be damned. That is what we're up against here. God help us.

You know, you're right about the budget battle. The Republicans can HOLD OUT and cause grief for the democraps. This could be fun to watch, all right. ONE GOOD THING!

"Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. "

Great Dixie Chicks song...

But seriously, why not call on the Christians here at FreeRepublic (the believing-praying ones) to intercede in prayer for you...our brothers and sisters...in California

You know how Jesus feels about those that mess with children in any way that turn them from Him or cause them to lose their faith (as these liberals a salivating to do)..."Better that they had milstones hung aroound their necks and drowned in the sea"Jesus' Father is BIG and very PRO Family!

I will stake my eternal life that He is just waiting and searching for those to whom He can deliver and show Himself strong!

They voted for him because he is a Democrat, and principles be damned.

They voted for him because he's PRO CHOICE, too. Hillary Clinton (the rapist's wife) sent phone messages to all democraps in the state urging them to vote for Davis "to protect a woman's right to choose". Bill Simon is pro life. 'Nough said.

Your post about praying for us poor slobs in California IS MAKING ME CRY!!! God bless you for thinking of us. We are suffering. It's a dark day here in California. We are fearful for our families. Tomorrow will be brighter. And I know this is a test of our faith. I love our Heavenly Father and pray for His help in Jesus Name and by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Amen!

I suspect that the California government is going to financially self-destruct within 3-5 years. Better that it should do so under democRAT control.

You're right that businesses are going to leave the state if taxes are too high. And many qualified workers will do the same if their taxes are too high. The need for higher tax incomes is the state's "rock". The inability to realistically raise them without losing taxpayers is the "hard place".

As to what you can do, I'm not sure. You have family ties that keep you from leaving. Perhaps you can go on a personal "work strike". Become part of the burden on the state to accelerate the self-destruct process. I really don't know. One thing you MUST do is keep your chin up and remain as cheerful as possible. Take care of yourself and your family.

I have a sister-in-law who lives in the Bay Area. She bitches about the higher taxes, confiscatory fees, onerous regulations, crooked politicians, gridlocked traffic, illegal aliens, the dangerous homeless, the loss of quality-of-life.

Then, she goes out and votes the straight Democrat ticket. For her, anybody who is against abortion or is accused of being allied with the "Religious Right" must be defeated.

She is completely uniformed but believes all the Democrat ads. I figure she is going to reap what she has sown, Too bad all the good people must, also.

I for one will join with you in prayer! God's Will be done in California! You know the weapons of our warfare aren't carnal...our prayers are more powerful than any scheme the God-less can come up with. We CAN tear down the strongholds of the enemy, through the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Glorious Grace, praying patriot
