This is the end of a fine screen-name.

As of today, gridlock is an obsolete term.

I will be posting now as Republican Landslide

Of course, now the Pubbies have to do the hard work of governance. Every time somebody out in Dubuque gets a hang-nail, it will be the Republican's fault. If the economy tanks, they will get all the blame. If things go well, they will not be appreciated.

Look what happened to Winston Churchill after WWII. History is cruel to the victors.

That said, GWB's strategery has been on-the-money thus far, so we'll see how he does now, holding all the strings. Unless three (count 'em three!) Pubbie Senators jump ship, I don't think I'll be using the gridlock handle again any time soon.

I'm kind of disappointed with this opus.   Shouldn't you be claiming that somone called you a name and you've had it with FreeRepublic?  Or perhaps that it's gotten too mean around here, or that it's changed, or that the flame wars are out of hand?

I hope you're at least planning to hang around for a couple of days responding to people's posts under the Gridlock handle.

Whether the undeserving appreciate good government or not, good policy will still benefit the nation as a whole. I guess we can be grateful for that, ignoring the whining of the politically ignorant masses...Dang, where are my earplugs?

Well I for one have no intention of changing my screen name until:

1. The Republican controlled congress (I LOVE THE SOUND OF THAT!) permanently repeals the marriage penalty tax! AND,

2. The Republican controlled congress permanently eliminates the capitol gains tax! AND,

3. The Republican controlled congress permanently eliminates the death tax! AND

4. The Republican controlled congress enacts President Bush's tax cut plan ahead of schedule!

When all this has been accomplished, then and only then, will I consider changing my screen name.

You know, the Opuses on this site are nothing like they used to be. It used to be that FR had the best Opuses on the web. But now all of the great Opus writers are gone and no one left here has the guts to write a real bare-knuckled Opus anymore. That's why I'm leaving!
