Vermont Shocker!!!

Polls covering the VT Governor's race, as recently as this past weekend, showed the Republican candidate down between 5 and 10 points to Democrat Doug Racine. Douglas appears to have squeaked out a narrow victory over Racine.
The Lt Governors had been too close to call in a tight three way race. Former air force pilot Brian Dubie appears to have won handily.
According to the Vermont constitution both race have to be decided by the Vermont legislature because neither ended with anyone getting 50% of the vote. The legislature appears to have unexpectedly moved from Republican control to a Democrat majority. Thi should be interesting for a while yet.

Gee, they have a Make Marijuana Legal party and a Lt. Gov candidate named Dubie. Whatever are you Vermonters up to?
To: Straight Vermonter
Shouldn't a candidate with the name "Dubie" be running on the "Make Marijuana Legal" ticket?

The legislature appears to have unexpectedly moved from Republican control to a Democrat majority. I'm from MA myself, but I thought I heard a caller on Howie Carr yesterday say that in VT's legislature one house is pubbie and the other 'rat.

So every New England governor is Republican? Weird!
To: Aquinasfan
As soon as Vermont's Republican governor is sworn in, we need to declare "open season" om Leahy and Jeffords. Traitor bastards!!

So every New England governor is Republican? Weird!Sadly, no. We got stuck with a Rat in Maine. The death spiral continues.

Since the Dems did not expect the shift in the legislature they made quite a show of saying the popular vote winner should get the seat. Not that I don't expect them to go back on their word.

What's their margin of control?

We got stuck with a Rat in Maine. The death spiral continues. Too bad the hard core libs from Massachusetts are flocking to Maine. What's that about?

There is definitely something wrong hereIt's weird and getting weirder - it's like living with the Stepford People or something.

Real estate is a lot more affordable here, for one thing.
I moved here from Massachusetts too, but I've been waving my arms and warning everyone, like an escapee from East Germany.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize the extent to which Maine had become Albania.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize the extent to which Maine had become Albania. Bummer. I used to like Maine. Why does the left get all the great places in NE? P-town, Northampton, Portland?
