The people of Florida have provided resounding support against a rude nasty habit, which intrudes upon the space of others.

Last time I checked this was a Republic. This Constitutional Amendment gets us one step closer to a true democracy with mob rule.

It's dangerous when you go to the polls to vote based on what you can get out of the deal (a smoke free dining experience). When you registered to vote in Florida you signed an oath that says "I will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Florida." This Smoking Ban has no place in the Florida Constitution.

Besides, since I'm one of those business owners you think it's so cute to slam, perhaps you can come down here after I fire my 6 employees next year and find them jobs after I relocate to a more freedom loving state. What few there are left. And by the way, I don't smoke cigarrettes, I smoke the occassional cigar. I just see the trends, and Commiefornia is the example the rest of the nation should fear:

Under this amendment the POLICE do have the right to enter your home business without a warrant and issue you a ticket if your neighbor complains. How? Simple, since it classified as a "workplace" and a "dwelling", the laws defining workplace behavior supercede. So next time you wish to offer an opinion, go back to your DU message board or bathouse or wherever it is you came from and actually see if they have all the facts.

I'm extreemly conservative, but smoking is disgusting and unhealthy. It belongs in non-public places. Having lived without smoking in public has been a blessing. A total blessing.
I also predict that insurance companies won't cover cancer with smokers in the not so far distant future either.

Actually there are many "conservatives" who are voted for this Amendment, I talked to many of them, the reason they voted for it is because they like the idea of going to a smoke free restaurant.

None of them even thought about the fact that the government is taking away liberties in the process of "looking out for the health of others".

Would you support this if it were banning drinking in public? How about cursing in public?

Doesn't matter. The smokers will just sue the tobacco companies to pay for their health-care costs. Eventually the tobacco companies will go bankrupt, and the government will have to look elsewhere to collect taxes -- from your pocket, for instance.

Target your attention to the fact that it is a health issue and not just a simple freedom issue.
It's nice not to have places smell clean where the public gets together. As you know, it is a disgusting habit and they can smoke outside in smoking areas at work or in public. That is how we have it in CA and it has been a total blessing.
I like to actually breath the air rather than a ton of exhalled smoke, especially in enclosed buildings.

It's sad that the liberals who have pushed this smoking ban are the same ones pushing the new higher tobacco tax to pay for their education plans.

What will they do for money when the succeed in banning smoking causing the people to quit, and not pay the new tobacco tax.

I guess they don't know you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I agree it's a disgusting habit. It's not the liberty of the smoker I'm talking about. It's the liberty of the business owner. If you want to open a smoke free business that is great, but if you want to allow smoking that should be your choice.

People can choose which business to go to, that IS the free market system we live in, isn't it?

I don't think it's the governments right to tell a business they can or can't allow smoking, and deffinately not worthy of a Constitutional Amendment.

Not to mention common decency and consideration for others. Inconsiderate "it's my right" smokers brought this on themselves....And you're soooo right about enjoying a smoke free drink and or dinner.
