I have lived in NC all my life ..... the first year I was able to vote was when I cast my ballot for Richard Nixon. I have never been asked to show any ID of any kind. I walk up to the right table, tell them my name, help them find it in the book, watch them write it down, and head for the voting booth. It really worries me.

Chambliss is starting to open a lead in GA. Up 2% 50 to 48. Looks like GA is comming to its senses. Chris Matthews was starting to whine about it on PMSNBC.

Sorry about that thumb. OUCH! Glad it's healing though .... *hugs*

Our son moved out of state about 3 years ago and keeps forgetting to let the local election board know it. In 2000 hubby and I joked that after we voted in the morning, hubby could go back that afternoon and vote in son's name because he was still on the books ..... we saw his name. Of course, hubby wouldn't have done that but it made us aware of just how easy it would be for someone to do that sort of thing. We didn't think to check this morning to see if son is still listed.

We really need to start working on changing that. From comments I read on FR, I gather that we are one of the few states that doesn't require some kind of ID.

WHAT???!!! You were DISENFRANCHISED???!!! Call Jesse Jackson! Call Johnny Cochran!!! Call the NY Times!!! Oh wait. You're a Republican? Never mind...

Right a Rep. doesn't have those options. But you know what I'll just go by the law of the land. I should have voted and moved my registration by a prescribed time and I didn't. I'm not going to cry about it. Next time I'll just be more responsible. Now wouldn't it be a great country if Rats felt the same way.
