From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: FORT WORTH - Tarrant County elections workers will be counting ballots through the night to tabulate votes after officials found a programming error that failed to detect straight party votes. Final tallies could be completed by early morning Wednesday, said Robert Parten, Tarrant County's elections administrator.
County election officials checking voting machines early Tuesday morning found that a programming error was causing ballots cast for a straight party ticket to not register votes for the candidates of that party, Parten said.
After confirming that the problem existed in voting machines at another precinct, Parten decided to count all of the county ballots in one location and has made plans to bring them from the precincts to a downtown election office at 600 W. Weatherford Street.
"There is more control at a central counting location than at the precincts," Parten said. "It's exactly the same procedure as a recount."
Full election results may not be available until about 7 p.m. Wednesday, he said,
A total of 360,000 votes were expected to be cast in Tarrant County, Parten said.

(Reuters) - The first polls began to close on Tuesday [snip]
Voting ended in parts of Indiana and Kentucky, where several key House races will be decided, but no results were available. Television networks were expected to go slow on projections as the nation's largest exit polling service announced their results were unreliable. [snip]

It's going to be a long night tonight. I think I feel a "sick day" coming on for tomorrow!
Thanks for the Ping, Howlin.

I got a call from the Forrester campaign at 3:47pm, The call stated that the exit polls the campaign was running showed a dead heat state wide as of 3pm EST. Stressed the importance of getting out the vote.
Hopefully NJ, will defy the "experts" and be up for grabs this evening.
One factor may be th fact that the Louse didn't pour in "street money" to buy votes the way the Gore and Corzine did.

News 29 TV - Minnesotans are heading to the polls in high numbers. Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer says there's been few complications and an impressive turnout so far. Election officials say it will likely be after midnight before the votes are tallied. All Senate and absentee ballots will be counted by hand.

An ex-Clintonite yet.|What about us in AZ? We have got Janet NapoliReno in a supposed dead heat with Matt Salmon. It is mind boggling.

Here and waiting for numbers.
Minnesota may have an answer by about 1:00 am CST. All the supplemental ballots for the Coleman/Mondale Senate race must be hand counted.

The call stated that the exit polls the campaign was running showed a dead heat state wide as of 3pm EST. Oh my, that would be sweet.
I have three dear hopes for this evening:
1) Forrester over Lautenberg
2) Cole over Mondale
3) Pataki AND the indie over McCall (putting Hillary! on line C).
Ah, but I'm just a dreamer.

It's going to be a long night

I'm going to need a nap--I was up late for the Packer game last night and now the elections. I have a feeling, though, that it's going to be quite a while, maybe even days, before we know the outcome of some of the races.
