Perhaps they should "test" the machines prior to election day to make sure they work properly, SHEESH.

I'm in GA and I looked at my review carefully -- but even I'm questioning whether I really voted for Republicans now. Why can't we have a paper-trail and why shouldn't I be able to connect to the GA state website and see who I voted for?

Voter Advisory From Randy Evans, General Counsel of the Georgia Republican Party
We have received preliminary reports from voters across the state who have indicated that when placing their vote, and touching the screen for a Republican candidate, the box is incorrectly checked for the Democrat candidate. Another similar situation is occurring when the review screen comes up and previously marked Republican votes are showing as Democrat votes.
Anyone experiencing this problem should immediately report it to the poll officials at their polling place and should call the Legal Task Force Hotline at the Republican Party Headquarters, at 866-251-4966.
When calling the Hotline, callers should ask for Vernadette Broyles, Chief Deputy Legal Counsel

They reported the same thing in Dallas during early voting. Difference was that RAT votes were showing up as Republican.

...and why shouldn't I be able to connect to the GA state website and see who I voted for? Because other people could connect to the GA state website and see who you voted for. Georgia, or someone who works there, could sell your name to people who might be interested in seeing who you voted for so that they could sell you something. Are you really that trusting?

Rush is talking about this story.....he said it is happening to BOTH REP and DEMS..

Great. Now they will be counting smudges on the screen instead of chads.

Why can't we have a paper-trail Absolutely necessary. Save the computers for doing spreadsheet analyses after the elction.

There is ZERO reason that these things should not be as reliable, and reciept printing as an ATM machine.

I have a line of novelty currency products that I sell mainly to republicans. I'd purchase this data if it were availible :)
To: Naspino
I believe that ALL voters should be given a receipt that shows who they voted for.

Georgia, or someone who works there, could sell your name to people who might be interested in seeing who you voted for so that they could sell you something. Are you really that trusting? They already have this service -- you can connect and see your polling location when you registered and the last time you voted. Just doesn't show who you voted for. Its not a listing -- you have to login.

It's called the "Australian secret ballot". Frankly, I don't want anybody to be able to discover how I voted. It's a problem and allows for fraud to occur. No real solutions have been proposed. But I wouldn't worry. It's like going on a long trip and wondering if you've left the oven on halfway there. It doesn't do you any good to worry and your concerns are probably unfounded.

Our county in NJ installed these machines, used them in the primaries, used it today. They are very simple and foolproof. I suspect someone hacked the software to cause the problem. Ours have a stylus, and couldn't be easier to use, espically with the ballot review.
The machines they show in Florida were identical to the machines we are using.

There are systems proposed that handle this with encrypted tracking numbers that you receive at the polling place. When you get home you can enter your encrypted number from your reciept and check your vote. It can't be tracked back to a voter.
The only problem with this is that this would allow Democrats to pay you for your vote and let you prove to them that you voted the "proper" way.
