Racial problems surface in high desert high schools

This week, Newschannel Three told you about the Ku Klux Klan's efforts to organize in Joshua Tree. Now, students at nearby high schools are dealing with their own race issues.

Students at Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High School say they're seeing signs of racial tension at their schools. And now the Morongo Unified School District is trying to erase those signs.

High School students around Morongo Valley are seeing racially motivated symbols that some say promote white supremacy.

Because of this, the school district passed this resolution on racial harmony that bans students from wearing anything that might be offensive, including one brand of popular t-shirts.

Independent's brand of clothing is worn by skaters, but because its logo is similar to an iron cross, students are banned from wearing them. But the racial tension doesn't stop with the symbols. Students say there are sometimes verbal arguments between racial groups.

The incidents at the schools are not the only indications of racial tension in the area. Flyers recruiting Ku Klux Klan members were passed around nearby Joshua Tree. They say the Klan is organizing there. But the schools don't think the incidents are related.

The school district says the racial problems are confined to small groups of students and the problems are just at the high schools.

Then ban the "FUBU" line of clothing which stands for "for US by US"... "Us", of course, meaning black people. By the way, FUBU also makes their own line of football-type jerseys, all with the number "05" on them. Does that have anything to do with the Five Percenters? Yes, but black hate is better than white hate.

The problem is not one district will ban "Proud to be black", Malcom X, or any of the sayings that blacks wear in large numbers.

Put a "proud to be white" shirt on and you lose your job or get expelled from school.

Double standard that everyone loves to overlook.

A big thing is also the "88" clothes. They mentioned independent here, but alot of schools, after a new report, started banning 88 jerseys, hats and clothes, due to the news story about how neo nazis use the number 88 (8th letter of the alphabet is "H", hence, HH, hence heil hitler). Target was selling them, now target claimed they had no knowledge, even though the stuff was spiking and doing great in sales, it was pretty clear something was up and why this was popular, they did learn that neo-nazis were basically buying everything and re-doing there wardrobe over in this stuff. They didn't care, and to be honest with you, I wouldn't have either, but eventually it did get pulled.

So the armed forces sharpshooter medal morphs into a surfer's iron cross

To a corporate logo?

That's racist?
