Quite obviously, Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) and the leadership at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), are using the death of the ultra-liberal (read socialist) Senator Paul Wellstone for all the political mileage they can squeeze out of it.
For instance, Daschle and the DNC leadership are hinting to the Democratic Party's potential voters that they should get out and vote straight Democratic in memory of Wellstone. At first, that seemed a little ridiculous of them. Then, after some examination, we tend to find their actions very fitting of that failed organization -- for a number of reasons.
Let's use honor and integrity as an example. Most Americans still believe that an honorable man would keep his word. Which means that most Americans would certainly agree that when someone raises their right hand and takes a solemn oath to God and country to do something to the best of their ability, that is what any honorable person is expected to do.
How did that apply to Wellstone -- and his conspirators in the Democratic Party (and some Republicans)? Easy.
Federal law (5 USC 3331) requires that "An individual, except the President, elected or appointed to an office of honor or profit in the civil service or uniformed services, shall take the following oath: I, (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
Forget the transgressions of wayward Republicans for a minute. Is there anyone anywhere in the country who can read the Constitution and then say that any Democrat in government makes the slightest attempt to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States" or "bear true faith and allegiance to the same"? For this argument, by the Constitution we mean the body of the Constitution and the first ten amendments, except as later amended, and as legally explained (as approved by the U.S. Supreme Court for the last 200 years) in The Federalist Papers.
Either one supports, defends and bears true faith and allegiance to the Constitution, or one does not. Those public officials who took the oath of office and do not are, in fact, dishonorable politicians and public liars. They are, in practice, in violation of the Supreme Law of our land, as well as their oath to their God and country.
Since the 1930s, all Democrats and many Republicans fit that dishonorable class perfectly. They intentionally work against that which they took an oath to support. In so doing, they also actively work to usurp the freedom and liberty of the people of the United States.
As a Senator, that is exactly what Paul Wellstone did. That he may have done so in a congenial manner, with a smile on his face, is immaterial. As are all other Democrats and some Republicans, Wellstone was actively and intentionally involved in passing laws that violate the intent of the Constitution. In so doing, Wellstone was also involved in intentionally limiting the freedom and liberty of the people of the United States as (were intended to be) protected by the U.S. Constitution and our natural and common law rights.
So yes, it is quite fitting that Daschle and many in the DNC leadership ask Democrats to vote in memory of Wellstone. They need the turnout to support the socialism that was so dear to Wellstone & cabal.
Interesting, too, is the fact that the Democrats now intend to run a devoted tax and spend socialist from a bygone era: Walter Mondale. Anyone over 50 years old may remember Walter Mondale as Vice President in the disastrous Carter administration. Or, perhaps they will remember Mondale's bid for the presidency against Ronald Reagan. Mondale's campaign for higher taxes and stronger central government control of almost everything was soundly rejected by the people of 49 out of 50 States.
Probably, that is why the DNC does not want Mondale actually campaigning for the Senate against Republican Senate candidate Norm Coleman -- who, incidentally, would have beaten Wellstone this year.
To keep Mondale (and Republicans) quiet as long as possible before the election, Democrats whined that all campaigning should stop until after all services for Wellstone were over. To that end, the Democratic Party leadership -- and their cheerleaders in the media -- conspired to act all indignant anytime any Republican so much as mentioned anything about Mondale's far-left record. Then, the hypocrites on the far-left used a three hour televised Wellstone "memorial service" as an excuse to hold a DNC programmed partisan campaign pep rally.
The event looked like something between a high school pep rally and a circus. It was probably closer to a circus, though, because they sent in many, many clowns. There were so many goofy clowns, in fact, that even Governor Jesse Ventura left early in disgust. . . . .
As we see, it was only the Republicans who were not supposed to campaign. Republicans again allowed themselves to be conned by the lies of the grifters on the left. Someday they might learn. Maybe.
About losing the Presidential election to Ronald Reagan, Mondale told the New York Times: "In our system, at about 11:30 on election night, they just push you off the edge of the cliff and that's it. You might scream on the way down, but you're going to hit the bottom, and you're not going to be in elective office."
He should brace for that fall yet again. It appears that the year 2002 may mark the beginning of the end for that disgraceful Democratic Party.

The telling point of this is that the pep rally, and his reaction to it, all by itself made Mr Ventura a statesman, and quite possibly be the last "vision" the public has of him as a Governor. A career defining moment.
