XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX WED OCT 30, 2002 16:13:08 ET XXXXX

MCAULIFFE POSITION SAID IN DOUBT IF NO GAINS ON ELECTION DAY

Next week's election has taken on a personal tone for Democratic National Committee Chair Terry McAuliffe, who may find his position in doubt if the party fails to make any gains!

Sources tell DRUDGE that McAuliffe will be asked to step down from the chairmanship if Democrats lose control of the Senate and fail to pick up seats in the House of Representatives.

"There will be a strong push for new leadership if the ship does not come home," a senior elected Democrat said this week.

MORE

The official, who asked not to be named, said McAuliffe will be blamed, personally, if the party does not make gains in the off-year vote.

"He's had free reign... he will be judged on his results," said the lawmaker. "It's simply inexplicable, to me and others here, that we are looking at simply maintaining our positions, not increasing them."

Developing...

If the RATS lose, look for the Clinton goons to take Terry out back and 'explain' the situation to him Tony Soprano style....

Terry on November 6th?

great pic. A bit of advice for McAuliffe: If your RAT friends decide it's time for you to go, avoid taking any flights on chartered planes.

MCAULIFFE POSITION SAID IN DOUBT IF NO GAINS ON ELECTION DAY

Not just Terry, it will be the 'Toon's too. Posted this on another thread about 'Rat newspapers endorsing Jeb on Monday:

'Toons & McAuliff have to be going nuts. They know whats coming. Jeb wins strong in Fla.. Pataki, the same in NY. Race card being played against them in NY by McCall. Lieberman sees it, thats why he's supporting war against Saddam so strongly, damage control for his image. Al Goron is stumbling around getting in everyone's way. If DimRATs lose the Senate too, BIG TROUBLE FOR 'TOONS COMING!. Scapegoat needed and the 'TOONs are the obvious target. Zell Miller, John Breaux, other moderate type 'RATs will blame 'TOON's corruption. Algore has aligned with the extreme left, they will be POed blaming 'TOONs for not being left enough. Half the party for war in Iraq, the other against. McCall calls them racist, Rev. Al has to join in. Jesse would too, but he's stuck to them with super glue and can't break loose. Charlie Rangel will try. 'TOONs are going to get slammed by all factions in a feeding frenzy, blaming them for the "RATs' misfortune.

This is going to be good folks, we are all going to have a happy holiday season watching!

And that wasn't even factoring the backlash from Dims are Grateful Wellstone's Dead Party" last night!

This election is huge. McAwful has surely bungled it. The only reason he is poised to stay even or win a few seats is because of an illegal ballot replacement in NJ, a death of a Senator in MN, and a defeated incumbent's supporters mucking things up in NH.

Clearly, this is not what the RATS hoped for in an off-year election where the President did not receive the majority of votes cast. If we can discredit McAwful by winning back the Senate, then maybe Hitlery will fade into the sunset as well.

Keep hope alive!

Too bad the Dims don't look in the mirror and see where the true blame lies.

McAwful's days as DNC head are numbered. That's a bonus!

I see this a three possible outcomes:

Dems gain some. This would mean maintaining control of Senate and gaining some house seats. Perhaps even control of the house. Also comming out ahead for the State Gov positions. In this case, Mcauliffe stays.

Dems hold on - stalemate. Say lose Senate but gain House or keep Senate but no gains in the House. Grumblings in the party but not enough to overcome Mcauliffe's strong arm tactics.

Dems loose by a little. Senate is only 'down' by a seat or two. Mcauliffe will do a mad scrable to file a bunch of lawsuits to show how the election was "rigged". Will blame Republicans for the rigging and will make a big fit over it. Grumbling within the party gets louder but will subside 'cause of the lawsuits. The lawsuits will give the appearance that Mcauliffe is a "man of action"

Dems loose big. Loose Senate by more than two seats, loose some in house and / or loss some Gov races. NOW Mcauliffe is in trouble. Strong arm tactics and lawsuits will keep some of the party in line but there will be a post election scapegoat hunt. If he can steer this hunt and point fingers to either others withing the party or to unusuall events (He has two built in excuses - Wellstone's death and the Torch's withdrawl) then he still might be ok.

Remember, Mcauliffe is a savy back room, stogie smoken pol, he has power and knows how to use it. He has friends and is not afraid to use them. You don't get to where he is by not playing hard ball.

So folks, don't get your hopes up.

Gephardt?

If this was in the works last week, McAwful and the Clintons had a strong reason to arrange Wellstone's crash.

"I just had a gross thought. What if they replaced him with Bubba! He has nothing to do right now."

Well that's a possibility, a small possibility. However, I think Clinton would rather travel around the world collecting up to 250 thousand dollars per speech from stupid liberal DemonRATS and other naive worshipers of the Clintons.

Frankly, were it not for his close ties to the Clintons I'd like to see him head the DNC for another 50 years or so. LOL Whatever credibility they may have had over the last 50 years it has been completely destroyed by this crass and vulgar buffoon. But as long as he is there Bubba and Blubber will be pulling his strings so he has to go.

I saw Dick Morris on FOX, claiming the
latest Missouri poll(s)? have Talent
ahead by only 1 point. He isn't one to be trusted, but has anyone(especially
from Missouri) got anything to offer?
