[history]
Americans go to the polls a week from today. And while it appears that Republicans will maintain their majority in the U.S. House, the Democrats' control of the Senate is tenuous. Friday's death of Sen. Paul Wellstone of Minnesota only complicated the prognosticating.

What good would regaining the Majority do for a bunch of clowns who are clearly much more comfortable with Minority status?
How can you call Trent Lott a "leader: when he is so clearly a spineless jellyfish?
But there I go, offending jellyfish everywhere...

Republicans should dump Trent Lott as Senate leader.
To: Willie Green
Great editorial.
Even if the GOP doesn't reclaim majority control of the Senate, they absolutely, positively should dump Lott from ANY leadership position.
To: Willie Green
Lott & his entire merry band of eunuchs should be ousted from the positions of leadership regardless of the results of the election - thanks to him, Republican Leadership is just another oxymoron.
To: Sideshow Bob
If we regain the Senate again, suppose they will implement that stupid power sharing again? If we gain the power, let's keep it this time. The Dems sure haven't shared much with us.
To: raisincane; Willie Green
The power-sharing agreement was created mostly because the GOP thought the odds were high that Thurmond would not live long enough to retire from the Senate-- which would have handed the Democrats the Senate (without Jeffords).
They thought that the Democrats would be nicer to them once Thurmond died if they were nice before he died.
To: Willie Green
Sounds like a plan. Lott should have been dumped long ago.

I agree--dump Lott, elect a majority leader who has cahones. Lott clearly has none, not sure exactly why. Queen of the Damned must have a lot of dirty pictures of Lott in the FBI files she stole.

They can dump Lott as Majority Leader or dump him as Minority Leader. Lott has lead the GOP into the minority, that usually results in getting a different job.
