"Former President Bill Clinton plans to attend the service, a spokesman said Sunday. And former Vice President Al Gore said while campaigning in Michigan on Monday that he and his wife, Tipper, would also attend. The service also is likely to draw many of Wellstone's colleagues from the Senate, figures from Minnesota politics and thousands of people from all walks of life.
The Bush administration is sending Tommy Thompson, former Wisconsin governor and current secretary of health and human services. White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said Vice President Dick Cheney had planned to attend, but now would not. Stanzel said he didn't want to get into private conversations, but said, "We deferred to the family."

Very odd situation here.
Why would Cheney be deffering to the family to stay away while Pres. Sleaze and Mrs. DeepThroat are invited?

I'm surprised that the Wellstone family invited even a single representative from this administration to attend.

I don't Blame Cheney, guaranteed CLINTON is going to make a total IDIOT of himself at the FUNERAL. Watch him, he won't leave until all the CAMERA'S are turned off, and he will milk this for all its worth. Keep a BARF BAG handy if you are gona watch CLINTON. I almost feel for the WELLSTONE Family for letting him (Clinton come).

Am I confused or is this NOT a public memorial? Since when do family members invite or dis-invite people from showing their respect regardless of political party???????????

No question mark needed. MSNBC said flat out, Cheney planned to attend but was "uninvited" by the Wellstone family. How's that for putting politics ahead of having the Vice President of the United States honor your dead Dad? How's that for No Class?

As for answering your question - when they are severely lacking in manners, class and good taste.

The libs are low class.... unless you have "correct" thought then you should be shunned. That's is what is called "cherishing our diversity"... Actually avoiding the stench of libs would be a liberating experience. Cheney's heart probably couldn't take the stress of suppressing his desire to run away from the liberal confab with his hair on end.
Let me think... what would I want to do...?
#1 fly to Minnesota (2 hours wasted) and sit through 1-2 hours of listening to the blubbering about somebody that I was really unfamiliar with, hated the work he did or tried to do to the country, and surronded by the likes of Ted Kennedy, Bill "blow job" Clinton and assorted freaks/leeches and parasites...
#2or I could have my wisdom teeth removed......
"Call my oral surgeon".

Is Coleman going to attend the funeral? If so, I expect him to be seated in the nosebleed section.

Pardon my ignorance, but are you referring to Hillary! as Mrs. DeepThroat? Is she planning on attending the funeral or will she be disinvited as well? You see, on another thread, Hillary! is invoking the memory of Wellstone in the name of politics. Ohhh, the horrors.

"MSNBC said the Wellstone survivors were not happy with the tone of how Cheney was campaigning."
That's understandable. Cheney stands for truth and the tone of his campaign is patriotic.

Yep....so typical.
BTW, let me stop and thank you know for all the excellent work you do on FR. Thanks for all the pings...and for your willingness to keep me on your list.

You think this is a public memorial service? Listening to the Dem spokesman here in Minnesota this morning, this thing sounds like its going to be more of a rally the troops event.
To: anniegetyourgun
Aw! You are welcome! My pleasure.
