As the crowded airliner is about to take off, the peace is shattered by a five-year-old boy who picks that moment to throw a wild temper tantrum. No matter what his frustrated, embarrassed mother does to try to calm him down, the boy continues to scream furiously and kick the seats around him.
Then, from the rear of the plane, an elderly man in the uniform of an Air Force General is seen slowly walking forward up the aisle. Stopping the flustered mother with an upraised hand, the white-haired, courtly, soft-spoken General leans down and, motioning toward his chest, whispers something into the boy's ear. Instantly, the boy calms down, gently takes his mother's hand, and quietly fastens his seat belt. All the other passengers burst into spontaneous applause.
As the General slowly makes his way back to his seat, one of the cabin attendants touches his sleeve. "Excuse me, General," she asks quietly, "but could I ask you what magic words you used on that little boy?"
The old man smiles serenely and gently confides: "I showed him my pilot's wings, service stars, and battle ribbons, and explained that they entitle me to throw one passenger out the plane door, on any flight I choose."

Thank you for posting the picture of Ted Maher at 26.
Ted's other home on Free Republic is our current Ted Maher thread.
We've got confirmation that the top Congressional committees are formally asking Secretary of State Colin Powell to look after Ted Maher's rights.
And we're assured that Dominick Dunne will be at the trial to report everything.
The Kitty Hawk is back at sea. The new Proceedings cover features the Wasp in the Arabian Sea. The SecNav has told our sailors to be ready.
From some of the nose art since 9/11, they're more than ready.
God Speed the finest fighting force on earth.

I hope you're planning to run over some peaceniks with that thing, Snow! I'm on my last nerve with 'em today! Good to see you!!May I be of assistance? Believe me, it will be my pleasure!
Last Saturday, I woke up late so I decided to drive into DC to catch the Patriots rally. Luckily I was able to find parking, several blocks from the mall. As I was walking towards the Freepers designated area, I saw a lot of the commie peaceniks with their banners and signs - what a pathetic lot. My blood was boiling and I thought I was going to catch a temperature. The whole time that I was making my way to the Freepers, I kept telling myself "stay calm, stay calm, don't pick a fight, be smart, no use getting clobbered at this point......" I was late of course and missed the speeches but I was able to watch it at 11pm on CSPAN. Talk about media bias! They showed the anti-war rally like twice during the day and the pro-war rally at 11:00 PM - can you believe that?! But it was a gem so it was worth staying up. I stayed until everyone packed up. I had the opportunity to get acquainted with the other Freepers. Also joined them for dinner. It was a pleasure to have met such a wonderful group!

Yes, of course, Diva! I will join you!! (I watched CSPAN that day, so I know exactly what you're talking about.)
To: Light Speed
LS, forgive my ignorance about military protocol, but why are fly-bys not allowed? I think it's cool! Well, that's a civilian talking so what do I know? I assume it's dangerous. But if the pilots are that well-trained ....please enlighten this ignorant civilian. Thank you!
