This is a power point slide show of living conditions of troops in Halfgonistan.

Take special note of the Co-Ed facilities, Wall 2 Wall Carpet, Complete Maid Service, 4Start Emeril Resteraunt, and cable satellite downlink. =)

Great stuff. This is similar, yet more austere, to Soto Cano Honduras where I spent all of last year.

PokeyJoe, what, if anything, can the ordinary citizens do to improve conditions here? Depressing!

I can't believe that after being there so long things are still so sparse. You'd think we could afford to make our troops somewhat comfortable on their down time.

WHAAAAA!

I can't believe the whining attitude of these guys (No privacy, long chow lines, not enough seating in the theater, no a/c in the chow tent, raw plywood tables and dust). Anyone who has deployed to Yuma, AZ, can attest to the 8" deep "moon-dust" there. They should realize that life is tough in a war zone. Hell, we lived under trucks and radars, and in holes (literally) during Desert Storm.

The AF had some nice facilities in SWA too. We used to use their PX. But to do so we had to remove our magazines from our M-16s and keep the bolt to the rear and ejection port cover open so the poor AF guys felt safe.

Guess that is why Marines are the few, the proud....

We ask for less and give more all for love of country.

It looks extremely bleak if one views it in ASCII.

I guess I'm gonna have to download a PowerPoint viewer plug-in to get the full, multi-media effect.

I find it fascinating that our military will put up with this, knowing full well that 1/3 of our population (Dems mostly) no longer appreciate or even care about their sacrifice and service. My brother (lifer, Sheppard AFB) would not let his kids join anything but the Marines, since x42 had destroyed the Army and AF.

Thank you for the reminder.

Cool. Life is different there than it was for me on an aircraft carrier, but now that I'm in the ANG, this doesn't look so bad. I can handle months away from home for the deployment that it looks like we'll get activated for.

God bless 'em for serving their country, and certainly I'm fat and happy back in the land of the big PX....But having said that, it all looks a lot better than how I lived out in the field 2-3 weeks at a time back at Ft Dragg...*grin*

I thinks the AF may have more delicate sensibilities than line doggies & Jarheads ;)
