I'm surprised you said this. I guess you've been asleep for the past 10 yrs. Janet Reno stonewalled and manipulated doezens of investigations. This isn't a perfect world and once you become involved in politicts you will find out what "really" goes on.

No, I've been wide awake. I didn't like Reno's manipulation, and I apply the exact same standards to the GOP. "They did it first" isn't a very good excuse for interference with criminal investigations.

Well, I am glad some people agree with me. Incidentally, this hardened criminal, Treffinger, was back to work the next day as Essex County Executive and Essex County Leader or the Republican Party. All this did was hurt the Forrester and Republican election, It was political grandstanding and posturing. I did not say that Treffenger shouldn't have been charged, it was the stupid timing of the ordeal. Chris Chirstie for Governor, not if I can help it.

"Generally, from Labor Day on, you would not bring a case," said a former federal prosecutor, citing the potential for influencing voting behavior. "That's just not the way things are done.

"Candidly and in whispered conversations, Chris is perceived as someone who has the stature and now the visibility to be the governor," said Michael Murphy, a former Morris County prosecutor who ran in the Democratic gubernatorial primary in 1997. "He is formidable and has a lot of political presence."

Yet other whispers are being heard, as well.

Although no one would say so publicly, the mention of Christie and elected office in the same breath has left some current and former law enforcement officials uneasy. One even went so far as to draw rough comparisons to Rudolph Giuliani, a former U.S. attorney in Manhattan who capitalized on his high media profile to become mayor.

"U.S. attorneys' offices are usually very apolitical and very standoffish," said a lawyer who has worked in the Newark office. "That's the way it's been in New Jersey."

Christie flatly refused to speak about political aspirations.

Apolitical except when some yahoo become US Attorney.
