On a nearby street corner, a handful of Iraqi Americans staged a counterdemonstration. Aziz al-Taee, spokesman for the Iraqi American Council, said, "I think America is doing just fine. ... We think every day Saddam stays in power, he kills more Iraqis."

Best anti-anti war sign I've heard of:
ANTI WAR IS PRO SADDAM!

"Bush's actions are way precipitous," said baguette carrier Steve Sutcher. "Doing this without international support, it feels like we are thugs."And I wonder what he would be saying it feels like if we had international support?

Now, now. We are talking about people who believe that Saddam really did get 100% of the vote.

That's fantastic!!! It defines the "anti-war movement" simply and precisely.

Let's see now.
Innocent men women and children doing nothing but going about their peaceful daily lifes. A helicopter flies over and drops little pieces of paper to determine the direction of the wind. Those on the ground look upon this curiously as the helicopters turn and leave.
An hour later the sound of the helicopters returns. A girl looking out her window notices small animals acting strangely, then a bird in a cage hanging outside her window turns over dead. She herself starts to feel ill.
Outside people are now starting to fall, writher. A women holding a baby drops to the ground the baby she is no longer able to hold in her grasp. A moment later she falls to the ground barely able to lay her arm across the child as she coughs, chokes and gags on the gas the helicopters have released on the orders of a dictator.
Today, thousands will march mindlessly, in fad and in fashion, in support of that dictator, protesting George Bush and his initiative to remove that dictor, Saddam Husein, from power.

None the less we need to take note of the worldwide phenomena, the excellent organization of these marches, the sympathetic and heavy coverage in the media. Here are some pix from around the world:
Barcelona, Spain
Typical caption (there are 133 of these on Yahoo News, many references to "chants accusing Bush of genocide")
Demonstrators carrying banners and posters march through central Madrid in protest against a possible war against Iraq, October 27, 2002. Thousands of anti-war protesters marched peacefully to express opposition to a possible U.S.-led attack on Iraq, a day after massive peace rallies in Washington, San Francisco, Berlin, and Amsterdam. Posters read ' Peace, Aznar, servile. Go to your war' and 'Oil war. Blood for oil.' REUTERS/Andrea Comas
Of course the supporters of terrorism make their actual politics clear.

If the President listened to these people and backed down, and Saddam hit America, I wonder how many of them would be demonstrating in the streets because the President didn't do anything to stop Saddam. Clueless dipwads, all.

ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) Coalition, which was formed after Sept. 11. Cool. Very Cool. I wonder if there is a coalition that advocates pretty sunsets and warm puppies. Well, there should be. After Saddam sets off a big one, there is going to be enough radio active dust in the air to make some really awsome sunsets (if you are alive to see them).

These protesters would love it if Saddam struck America. I was in Seattle yesterday and got a good look at the scum marching downtown. There were banners for the Communist Party of WA (is that different from the Democratic Party?). There were PLO and red Marxist flags. These people are the unemployable scum of the Earth, all of whom hate America and love our enemies. Personally, I would love to send all of them to Iraq so they can show their solidarity with Saddam in downtown Bagdad instead of Seattle.

IT's worth noting that NONE of the demonstrators called for Iraq to cease its nuclear weapons program, nor did any of those protesters demand that Hussein permit weapons inspectors back into Iraq.
Those inactions lay bare the true politics of the "protesters".

Twenty times as many pro-life demonstrators filled the capital a few years back and CSPAN ignored them. The usual cadre of "death to America" types shows up however and CSPAN goes wall to wall on them. Disgusting.
To: Travis McGee; Poohbah
I bet the stench in the air was overwhelming. Do we have some of these morons heading down this way? Would some of the fine gentlemen at McP's (for an example) like to come along and greet the protestors? (Retired not active duty of course!) I would be happy to help FReep during non working hours!
To: Southack
For that matter, did ANY of them even denounce Saddam?
To: BenLurkin
CSpan showed those idiots TWICE, the second time during prime time, and finally showed the FR rally at 11:20!
To: Astronaut
The usual suspects. They are the Hate America first crowd. Scum freeloaders. At leasst 269,900,000 Americans did not participate. I can't believe there were 100K at the Washington rally.
